EPISODE 129

 

Back at Martin's house,

Marianna is in the kitchen, lost in her own thoughts when Martin comes and gently taps her on her shoulder. She glares at him and tells him to stop doing that. She then asks him what Dianna is doing. He says that she is watching cartoons. Marianna starts to walk off but Martin holds her arm. She looks at him then tells him to excuse her because she wants to go to her daughter. Martin says that he wants to talk to her. Marianna glares at him but says that she is listening. He asks her what she talked about with his grandmother. Marianna tells him that whether he believes her or not, she didn't argue with his grandmother and they got along well.

 

Martin says that he believes her. She asks him why he wants to talk about his grandmother's visit. Martin says that he knows his grandmother very well and she is very nosy. Marianna tries to get away from Martin but in the process, they get more entangled. They stare at each other for several seconds before Martin increases the distance between them. Marianna tries to move away again but Martin stops her. He asks her why she won't tell him what she talked about with his grandmother. Marianna says that his grandmother thinks that they are in a relationship or it will happen. Martin smiles. He says he can imagine how bluntly she put it.

 

Marianna agrees that Clara was blunt then says what stood out most was when his grandmother said that he, Adrianna, and her (Marianna) need to seriously talk about Dianna because, after everything that has happened, the child needs some stability. Martin says that his grandmother does have a point there. He tells Marianna to relax. He adds that the one thing, they can both agree on at that moment, is that they love Dianna. He further adds, that with time, they will figure out a more permanent arrangement. He places one of his hands over hers. Marianna looks at him, then at his hands. She stands up gives him one last look before leaving the room. He doesn't follow her. Martin sighs.

 

Back at Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Gabriela is with Hernan in the dining room. The boys are watching cartoons. Hernan is looking at his sister. He can see that her mind is elsewhere. He tells her to relax and not worry too much. He adds that their father will be fine. Gabriela says she's not too worried about their father because he is strong and has overcome a lot of health issues and he is still himself. Hernan asks Gabriela what then she was thinking about. Gabriela looks at her brother and tells him not to mind her.

 

She sips a glass of juice and looks aside. Hernan narrows his eyes at his sister then smiles. He says that even as a child she would do the same thing. Gabriela asks him what he means. Hernan says that it has always been easy for him to read her because she would either mumble or fidget when nervous. He then asks her what she is upto. Gabriela glares at her brother and says that she has no idea what he means. Hernan gives her an I don't believe you look. He says that they are twins and he knows her very well. Gabriela sighs then she says that she will tell him.

 

Elsewhere,

Claudia is at the back of her car as the driver is taking her to Antonio's house. Her mind is preoccupied with one main thing. She asks herself if the report on the condition of the car was falsified or not. She says that no matter how much she tries to think about it, she can't find any reason why her husband would need to have the autopsy reports of Adrianna's parents or the report on the state of the car. They are driving along a fairly deserted hillside road.

 

Unknown to them a car had been following them. The driver of that car overtakes another one and moves right behind Claudia's car as they turn along a corner. The person who had been overtaken stops for a second to adjust something in their car. Meanwhile, the attacker boxes Claudia's driver into a corner. She is deathly afraid and holds her hands to her chest. To avoid crashing into the attackers, Claudia's driver swerves and they roll over into the nearby thicket. Oil from the engine drips out after the impact as smoke is seen. The attackers flee as quickly as they came.

 

Back at Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Hernan looks at his sister shocked. He can't believe that Marianna is a Holguain. He asks her when she and Antonio will tell her and her family. Gabriela says that she had agreed with Antonio that they would do it as soon as possible after they were done with their (Hernan and Gabriela's) father's big reveal. Hernan says it is shocking how the tragedy of their father's accident caught up so many people.

 

Gabriela agrees then tells her brother to promise to not tell anyone else because Marianna and her family should know first. Hernan agrees. He says that he knows that Mr. Santiago will be happy and that Marianna will need that support and stability especially with taking care of her daughter. Gabriela agrees. She adds that Thiago will be happy to have a cousin, even if she is much younger.

 

Back with Claudia,

It is two hours later, and Claudia and the driver have been removed from the accident scene. Luckily for them, it was just in time because the car burst into flames soon after. There are some police and firefighters on the scene. Meanwhile, at the hospital, they are both in serious condition and are fighting for their lives.

 

Friday passes and Saturday dawns bright and early,

Antonio has just woken up when his grandfather calls him. He is surprised to see the call. He, however, picks it. He is even more surprised when his grandfather asks him if he has any idea where his grandmother is. Whatever sleep he had evaporated. He asks his grandfather what he means. Juan Patricio tells Antonio that his grandmother hasn’t been home since she left to run some errands late on Thursday. Antonio is very shocked. He asks his grandfather why he is telling him now. Juan Patricio says that he assumed that she was with friends or something.

 

Antonio now beginning to get angry says that they both know his grandmother does not just decide to stay with friends unless it is something she planned. The conversation wakes up Gabriela and she turns and stares at Antonio. He asks his grandfather if he has tried calling her at all. Juan Patricio says of course he has. He tells Antonio to relax and adds that he is just as stressed as he (Antonio) is but they have to be calm so that they can deal with the issue. Antonio runs his hand through his hair. Why does he keep on having problem after problem?

 

Elsewhere, at Martin's house,

He is lying in his bed awake. He is thinking about what Marianna told him about what his grandmother said. He says that Dianna is a very special child and she is slowly weaving her way into his heart. He says that she is helping to heal that part of him that nearly died when Emma and his child were killed. He says that she makes him want to protect her and make sure she is comfortable.

 

Back at Antonio and Gabriela's house

Gabriela asks Antonio what is going on. He doesn't say anything but continues pacing around the room. Gabriela again asks him. He takes a deep breath and tells her that his grandmother seemed to be missing. Gabriela is shocked. Antonio says that his grandfather was calling to say that he last saw her on Thursday afternoon. Gabriela knows that despite everything Antonio loves his grandmother very much.

 

Antonio says that his grandmother is too prim and proper to disappear without saying anything so he is sure that something has happened. Gabriela puts an arm on his shoulder. She asks him what they should do. Antonio says that they need to go to his grandparent's house and get more information before they decide what they can do. He then goes to the dressing table and picks up his phone. He begins dialing a number.

 

Meanwhile at Aurelio and Aranza's house,

Aranza is making breakfast when she sees Antonio's call. She picks it up and greets him. He replies but she quickly notices the distress in his voice. Aranza gets worried and asks him what's going on. Antonio tells her that his grandfather says that he last saw his grandmother on Thursday afternoon before he left their house.

 

Aranza is surprised. She asks him how she can help him. Antonio says that he would like her and Aurelio to come and stay with the boys as he and Gabriela go to his grandparent's house to find out more details. Aranza agrees. She tells him not to worry. Antonio asks her if it will be too much of a bother. Aranza says that it won't be a problem. She says that they are family and that's what she is there for.

 

Elsewhere

At Hernan and Adrianna's house,

Hernan is sitting with his father, Adrianna, and daughter, Gisela Paulina. They are having breakfast. Hernan asks his father what he thinks they should do, now that everything is out. Gabriel says that his recovery is a long process and it might take some more time before he recovers. He says that he needs to see some of the things from his past, such as their family house, and items from his (Hernan) and his sister's childhood as well. Adrianna says that's a good idea and it will help him adjust better as he tries to regain his life.

 

Gabriel then says that after everything that has happened to him, he has realized that life is too short, and should be lived to the fullest. Hernan asks his father what he is talking about. Gabriel says that he will marry Anna Patricia. Hernan tells his father that it is a good idea but that he should take his time. He also tells his father that he has just been released from the hospital after a very long admission and he should take things easy. Gabriel frowns at His son.

 

He tells him that he (Hernan) is young and can afford to play games while he (Gabriel) is too old to play games and go around in circles. Hernan looks at his father and smiles. Adrianna smiles as well. Her father-in-law is hilarious. She says to herself that what Gabriel is saying sounds like something Aranza would say. She adds (still to herself) that of all her siblings Aranza is the one most like her father. Gisela Paulina calls her grandfather. Gabriel looks at his granddaughter and smiles at her. He asks her what his princess wants.

 

Back at Aurelio and Aranza's house,

Aranza has finished making breakfast and is quietly eating. She is still thinking about what Antonio said about his grandmother. Aurelio comes and finds her deep in thought. He asks her what's wrong. He then sits down and serves himself some juice and eggs. Aranza tells him that it seems like Antonio's grandmother is missing. She adds that Antonio's grandfather called Antonio to tell him that he last saw her on Thursday afternoon.

 

Aurelio takes a sip of his juice and then asks Aranza how they can help. Aranza says that Antonio would like them to go and stay with the kids as he and Gabriela go to visit his grandfather and find out more. Aurelio says that it's not a problem and that they should leave as soon as possible. He says that something could have happened, because Antonio's grandmother is too prim and proper, to disappear for so long without notice. Aranza agrees.

 

Back at Martin's house,

Martin is in the dining room, coloring with Dianna. She then stops and asks him if he will send her back. Martin asks her what she means. Dianna says that she doesn't want to go back to her father's house because he isn't a good person. Martin looks at Dianna shocked. For someone so young, Dianna is very intelligent. Martin asks her why she thinks her father isn't a good person. Dianna says that he used to make her mommy Adrianna very sad and mistreat her. Martin asks her what else he did. Dianna says that he calls her mother all the time to disturb her. Martin is shocked. Alejandro calls Marianna? Why doesn't she tell him? Martin then looks at Dianna.

 

He tells her that no one will ever take her to her father again. Dianna smiles and looks very much like her mother. She then says that her mommy Adrianna and uncle Hernan treat her well but they have Gisela and she doesn't want him to be lonely. Martin smiles and rubs her head. Dianna says that since he doesn't have a child, she can be his daughter. Just then Marianna comes into the dining. When she sees her mother, Dianna takes one of the pictures she was coloring and runs over to her. She then shows her the picture. Marianna kisses her daughter's forehead and says that it's beautiful.

 

Back at Hernan and Adrianna's house,

Gisela Paulina tells her grandfather that she wants to be the flower girl. Gabriel asks her what she means. Gisela Paulina gets off her chair and folds her hands. She then looks at her grandfather and while calling him grandfather, reminds him that he said he was getting married. Hernan looks at his daughter sternly and tells her not to ask her grandfather so many questions. Gabriel waves his son away. He tells Gisela Paulina that she will be the flower girl and that she and her cousin will hold the rings. Gisela smiles and hugs her grandfather.

 

Just then Gabriela calls Hernan. He knows his sister too well and can sense from her voice that something is wrong. He asks her if she, Antonio, and the boys are fine. Gabriela says that they are. Hernan sighs. He tells his sister that if she doesn't tell him the truth he is coming with their father immediately to see if there is a problem. Gabriela rolls her eyes. She says to herself that her brother is annoying and a bully. She, however, tells him that Antonio's grandmother seems to be missing. Hernan is shocked. Gabriela is in the boys' room.

 

She has washed them both and she is dressing them. Hernan asks Gabriela what they are planning to do. She says that Aranza and Aurelio are coming over and she and Antonio will leave soon after. Hernan asks her why she called Aranza first when he is much more responsible than their little sister. Gabriela sighs. She says that it wasn't her who called Aranza and any way that isn't important. Hernan says it is. He says that it feels like she trusts Aranza more. Gabriel sighs and goes and stands near his son. He tells Hernan to give him the phone to talk to Gabriela. Hernan tells Gabriela that they will continue talking later. He then adds that their father wants to talk to her.

 

Elsewhere at the hospital,

 

Claudia and the driver are still in a delicate condition. After the car wreckage is secured and the immediate surrounding examined, samples are extracted. A partly burned wallet is retrieved from one of the car's compartments. The person is shocked when they see Claudia's picture. Meanwhile, she is still in surgery. It is a very delicate surgery. She has lost a lot of blood.
