EPISODE 130

 

Back at Hernan and Adrianna's house

Gabriel tells Hernan and Adrianna that they should go on to his sister and Antonio's house, and he will wait for Anna Patricia as planned, and then they will come. Hernan says that he doesn't like that idea at all. He says he is afraid to leave him alone because Helena and Carlos might try something. Gabriel makes a face.

 

He says that he will be fine. He says that he is old enough to take care of himself. Hernan says that no one is disputing that, but he knows better who they are dealing with and he wouldn't want to risk anything. Adrianna adds that Helena and Carlos right now are like cornered lions, who are afraid of losing the company. She adds that they are very dangerous at the moment. Gabriel sighs and agrees to go with them.

 

Back at Antonio and Gabriela's house,

They are in their room. She tells him that her brother, Adrianna, Gisela Paulina, her father, and Anna Patricia are coming along as well. Antonio says that it's okay. He sighs and runs his hand through his hair. He hopes, his grandmother is well, wherever she is. Gabriela goes and puts her hands around him.

 

Back at Martin's house,

Marianna is in the kitchen alone. She is making a sandwich for Dianna before she starts making breakfast. Just then Martin comes in. She is serving Dianna, on a colorful plate but stops and looks up at him. Martin asks Marianna if he can talk to her. Marianna says that it's okay. Martin says that he was talking to Dianna earlier and she mentioned something that interested him. Marianna asks him what that was. Martin says that she mentioned that Alejandro had been calling her. Marianna stops what she was doing and moves to the other end of the kitchen.

 

Martin moves near her and holds one of her hands. Marianna turns and looks at him. He asks her why she would keep something like that to herself. She says that there isn't much to say. Martin says that given her reaction it is hard to believe that. Martin tells her that he really wants to help her and Dianna but she has to do her part. Marianna takes a deep breath. She then says that Alejandro has been calling her from time to time. Martin folds his hands and asks her what Alejandro wanted. Marianna says that it was nothing of importance.

 

She adds that he was just bothering her and trying to start another affair with her. Martin asks her if she still has anything to do with him. Marianna says that she would never want anything to do with Alejandro again. Martin says that if Alejandro tries to bother her again, she should tell him and they will deal with him together. Marianna says that it's her problem to handle and not his. She adds that he has his own life to live. She tries to leave but he holds her hand. They look at each other.

 

Sometime later,

At Juan Patricio and Clara's house,

Antonio and Gabriela have just arrived. They find Helena, Carlos, and Juan Patricio talking. The police have also just arrived. Gabriela holds onto Antonio's hand tightly after they get out of his car. As they approach, Gabriela notices both Helena and Carlos glare at her. She puts her face straighter and says that she won't let them cower her.

 

Back at Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Hannibal is with Gabriel and Aranza in the dining room. He looks up at his grandfather and asks him where his parents went so quickly. Gabriel runs his hand through his grandson's hair. He then tells him that his great-grandmother doesn't feel so well and his parents had to go and make sure that she is okay. Aranza looks at her father like she wants to say something but he gives her a look and she remains quiet.

 

Meanwhile back at Martin's house,

Marianna, Martin, and Dianna are having a late breakfast. Marianna asks Martin if he will go and meet up with some of his family later. Martin says that he has other plans. Marianna says to herself that he is going to see some other girlfriend or the other. Martin looks at Marianna then says that she is very curious about his plans. He asks her if she is jealous. Marianna rolls her eyes and says that she was curious especially since he hadn't shown that he had any plans. Martin says that he already has.

 

He sips a glass of juice then says that he is going to take her and Dianna to a nearby restaurant for lunch. Marianna looks at him wide-eyed. What is Martin upto? He looks at Dianna and asks her if she wants to go with him and her mother to swim and eat in a nice restaurant. Dianna nods excitedly and then says yes. Marianna says that she isn't so sure. Dianna looks at her mother and asks her if they can go. Marianna tells Dianna that she has to talk to her uncle first. She then glares at Martin who smiles back sweetly.

 

Elsewhere, back at Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Aurelio is coming back with Ricardo from the toilets when out of the blue he starts crying. Aurelio stops and asks him what's wrong. Ricardo asks him why his real mother hasn't come looking for him. Aurelio runs a hand through his hair. He says to himself that he isn't equipped to handle such things. He, however, tells Ricardo that his Uncle Antonio and mommy Gabriela love him and will take care of him. Ricardo asks him about his mother. Aurelio takes a deep breath and says that she has to go somewhere but she will come for him one day.

 

Back at Juan Patricio and Claudia's house,

Antonio and Gabriela are in the kitchen. Gabriela is having a glass of water when Helena and Carlos come in. Antonio clenches his hand, knowing that the conversation won't be pleasant. He is not wrong either. Carlos looks at Gabriela and says that it is very hypocritical of her to be there. Antonio glares at his father and asks him why it would be awkward. He says that Gabriela is his girlfriend and has every right to be there during such a difficult time to support him. Carlos says that Gabriela and her brother are very happy given that they never liked his mother in the first place.

 

Antonio tells his father that not everyone is as vile and hateful as him. Gabriela says that she doesn't really care whether they believe her or not but despite all the problems she had with Claudia in the past, she doesn't wish any harm to her. She adds what matters now is that they find her and that she is safe. Helena glares at Gabriela and says that she wouldn't be surprised if she had anything to do with Claudia's disappearance. Gabriela says that murderers seem to think everyone is like them. Helena goes to hit Gabriela but Antonio blocks her.

 

She looks at him and he glares at her. Just then Antonio's phone rings. He doesn't recognize the number. Despite that, he picks it up anyway. The other person asks him if he knows Claudia Diaz. Antonio says that he is her grandson. The person says that he is sorry to tell him (Antonio) but his grandmother is in hospital in a very serious condition. Antonio goes into shock for a few seconds as he digests the news. Helena, Carlos, and Gabriela all look at him but none of them dares ask him what he has just been told.

 

Back at Martin's House,

Martin and Marianna are in the kitchen. She has folded her arms and is glaring at him. Martin looks at her but says nothing. Marianna then asks him what funny tricks he is upto. Martin says that he wants to take both her and Dianna out for some fun. He says that he knows that she gets bored staying in the house. Marianna unfolds her hands. She tells him that she doesn't think it's a good idea because it will fuel the rumors. Martin shrugs and says that what matters is that both she and her daughter have fun and bond. Marianna asks him about his family.

 

Martin says he already told them. Marianna narrows her eyes at him and asks him how long he has been planning it. Martin says that it was something he thought of on the spur of the moment the previous day. Marianna says that seems very unlike him because he plans things out and thinks things over before doing them. Martin smiles and says that she doesn't really know him as much as she thinks. Marianna asks him if he is really sure about what he is doing. Martin says that he is. He tells her not to worry too much about the gossip.

 

He says that he knows that his grandmother is nosy and his mother can get overprotective over him but after twenty-eight years of dealing with both of them he can handle it. Marianna is really apprehensive about the whole idea, so Martin moves closer to her and runs a finger down her face, and tells her that he can't assure her that everything will be okay but he can assure her that he will do everything he can to help her and her daughter. They both look into each other's eyes. Martin removes his finger from her face and lets his hand rest on hers. Just when he is going to kiss her, his phone rings.

 

Back at Juan Patricio and Claudia's house,

Antonio tells Gabriela, his father, and Helena that his grandmother is at the hospital in a very serious condition as is her driver. He gives his father the address he had written down and says that he and Gabriela are going there but the two of them can come if they wish. Gabriela follows Antonio as they leave.

 

Meanwhile back at Martin's house,

It is Anna Patricia calling. She asks him if he has talked to either of the twins or Aurelio. Martin says that he hasn't. He asks his mother if something has happened. She tells him that Antonio's grandmother is missing and Gabriela went with Antonio to his grandparent's house to get more information. He asks her where she is. She says that she is with Aurelio, Aranza, Gabriel, Hernan, Adrianna, Gisela, and the boys at Antonio and Gabriela's house. Martin says that he will call Gabriela to see if something has changed.

 

Elsewhere,

At the hospital,

Santiago is removed from the high dependency unit to a regular room. His whole family is there with him. He had been recovering quite well. As promised, Claudia through Antonio was taking care of the bill.

 

Meanwhile back with Martin,

He calls Gabriela. Gabriela is in Antonio's car. They are on the way to the hospital to visit his grandmother and find out how she is. Martin says that his mother just called him and told him what happened. He asks her if she has any updates. Gabriela says that the hospital just called and told them that Claudia is in serious condition and she is rushing there with Antonio. Martin says that he is coming there. Gabriela says that it's not necessary. She adds that someone else will come. She tells him to stick to his plans and that he can come the next day.

 

Martin says that he can't go on as if nothing has happened and wants to be there for her. Gabriela says that she understands and appreciates that but he needs to be there for Dianna because the child must be confused with all the changes and she needs stability and love. Martin relents and says that she must update him. Gabriela says she will. He says he loves her and she says she does too and ends the call. Marianna asks him what happened. Martin tells her what little he knows. Marianna asks him if his cousin will be offended if they go out and don't show up at the hospital.

Martin assures her she won't.

 

He says that it was Gabriela's own suggestion that they go on and then visit the next day. Marianna turns and faces the other side. She wipes away a lone tear and then turns to leave. Martin holds her hand. He asks her what's wrong. She says that it’s nothing. He says that it’s something if she is wiping away a tear. She says that she was thinking of how both he and Antonio love their grandmothers and are very close to them and she thinks about her own lack of someone like that. She starts to cry and he holds her.

 

Sometime later,

At the hospital,

Antonio, Gabriela, Helena, Carlos, and Juan Patricio are in the waiting room. The air is tense, partly because of the anxiety over Claudia's condition and partly because of the tension between the people present. Just then the Doctor comes out of the operating room. Antonio is the first one there and asks how his grandmother is. The doctor says that she is in a very serious condition and it's a miracle she is still alive.

 

He adds that the surgery went well but she is still in a comma. He further adds that most of the damage was sustained in her head, and feet. Both Carlos and Juan Patricio are equally if not more devastated. Juan Patricio says that his wife should receive the utmost quality care. The doctor assures him that they are doing everything that they can for her to recover.

 

Elsewhere,

Martin, Marianna, and Dianna are already at the hotel. It has a pool at the center. Martin has changed into his swimming trunks. He is sitting at a spot near the pool. He is sipping a glass of juice as he waits for Marianna and Dianna. Just then Dianna comes running to him. She is dressed in her costume and floater. She says that she wants to swim first before eating. He rubs her head then asks her where her mother is. Behind him, Marianna says that Dianna was too excited about swimming to wait. She then walks and sits near Dianna.

 

Martin is watching her the whole time. Marianna looks at Martin for a second before going back to her daughter. Martin knew that Marianna was beautiful but that day she was stunning. Dianna looks at Marianna and asks her if she can go and swim. Marianna says that she will take her. Martin stands up and says that he will take her as well. Marianna looks at Martin again. She then takes Dianna's hand and walks with Martin to the baby pool. Martin asks Dianna if she wants him to stay with her. Dianna shakes her head and says that she can swim by herself. Marianna looks at her daughter and smiles.

 

Elsewhere, at the hospital,

Hernan had come to the hospital alone. He finds a moment to talk with his sister. It is some time after he arrived. They are in the hallway. He asks her what will happen with the issue concerning Marianna's family. Gabriela says that given what has happened to Claudia they are going to have to wait because Antonio is in no position to handle it. Hernan says that it's too bad because after their own story he feels kind of uncomfortable postponing Marianna from knowing about her family for a second longer. Gabriela agrees, she adds that life is too short and Mr. Santiago is old and he needs to spend all the time with his granddaughter and great-granddaughter.

 

Hernan suggests that maybe she should talk with Antonio once his grandmother is stable about talking to Marianna and her family. Gabriela says that she will. She adds that especially after knowing that Marianna's father was one of the three people killed while Helena and Carlos tried to kill their father, she feels even more involved in this issue and wants to help Marianna and her family. Unknown to both Hernan and Gabriela, Antonio, who was going to his car to get his wallet, so that he could go to the cafe for some coffee overhears them.

 

Hernan says that he thinks once things settle down, they should consider, helping the other two families as well. Gabriela says that it's a wonderful idea. She adds that Aranza will probably have a ton of ideas. Antonio walks on and says to himself that he told Gabriela not to tell anyone about Marianna's family and the first chance she gets, she goes and tells her brother. He runs a hand through his hair. He (still to himself) says that he is trying very hard to understand how easy it is for Gabriela to keep secrets from him for years but she can't keep a secret from her brother for even a few weeks.
