EPISODE 135

 

Back at Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Gabriel says that he feels that even as they wait for him to get back his legal identity, he shouldn't be idle. He says that he wouldn't mind going to the company and just seeing how things run. Gabriela thinks that it would be a good idea. She says that he has all the right to do so. Gabriel says that he knows that Helena and Carlos might try something to prevent him from getting his life back. Gabriela tells her father that it's his company and his house and it's Helena and Carlos who should feel awkward. She adds that getting justice or proving any of what Helena and Carlos did will be close to impossible given how much time has passed.

 

Gabriel says they can only hope that something turns up during the investigation. He then says he would like to visit her mother's grave with her and her brother. Gabriela says that she too would love to go because it would be the first time, she and Hernan would be able to go as themselves. She says that they will talk with Hernan and then agree on the date. Gabriel then surprises his daughter by asking her what her plans are with Ricardo. Gabriela tells him that neither Isabella nor Horacio seem to be interested in taking care of their son. She then adds that after everything they have done and their lack of repentance it is not in Ricardo's interests to be reunited with either Isabella or Horacio.

 

Gabriel then asks Gabriela if she has discussed with Antonio what to do about Ricardo. Gabriela says that they have agreed that Ricardo is better off with them and will keep him for as long as they can. She adds that once everything cools off, they will probably adopt him. She says that it is sad that Isabella has refused to leave Antonio alone and Horacio won't leave her alone but hopefully everything will end soon. Gabriela can see that her father is thinking. She asks him what plan he is formulating. He tells her that he isn't planning anything. Gabriela says that Aranza usually says the same thing right before she comes up with some crazy idea and she is very much like him. Gabriel says nothing and only smiles.

 

Back at the hospital,

Claudia says that she is confused and he is the only one she can trust. Antonio hugs his grandmother and reminds her that she is still not well. He says that she should rest and not worry too much. She waves him away and smiles. She then says that she knows how he feels. She adds that she knows that he loves Adrianna very much and the possibility that he could uncover something that might hurt her, bothers him. Antonio says that does bother him but what bothers him most is that his grandfather could be behind her accident.

 

Antonio tells his grandmother that he is worried that their suspicions might be true and that his grandfather might try something there in the hospital. Claudia admits that she is also afraid and says that she cannot continue exaggerating her symptoms forever. Antonio looks at his grandmother shocked. She has been doing what? She smiles and says that she can be just as sneaky and smart as him, his father, and his grandfather. Antonio is awed. Claudia tells him that for both their safety and everyone else's they shouldn't tell anyone. Antonio agrees. He says that now that he has her password, accessing her email will be easier.

 

He adds that he doesn't know what he is to do after that because that would require an investigator. Claudia suggests that they should go to the police. Antonio sighs then looks at her. He tells her that they both know that his grandfather has connections and could make the evidence disappear. He adds that what he isn't sure about is whether he is twisted enough to hurt his own family. Antonio seems to think then says that as much as his grandfather does have connections, they have to find a way of getting the evidence out there.

 

Claudia agrees. She says that there might be a connection between Gabriel's attempted murder and the potential murders of Adrianna's parents. Antonio says that he is confused. He says that he doesn't see the connection between Adrianna, her parents, and Gabriela's father. Claudia says that she knew Gabriel from the early years and he has always been a very kindhearted and generous person, a quality he passed on to his three children. Antonio says that's true but he doesn't see what she is trying to get at.

 

At Martin's house,

He is with Dianna in the dining room. He has been reading stories to her. He asks her if she liked that story. She says that she did. Martin tells her that he will read to her another one, the next day. He adds that one day she will be able to read by herself. Marianna comes in and watches them for a second. She tells herself that her daughter couldn't be left in better hands when she goes to jail. Martin looks up and sees her. Dianna also looks at Marianna. She then smiles and runs to hug her. Marianna rubs her daughter's hair and asks her to stay there because she has to talk to Martin. Martin gives Marianna, a- what did I do this time look.

 

Back at Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Gabriel tells his daughter that he talked to Helena. Gabriela is surprised and asks her father where he met Helena. Gabriel says that she came to Hernan's house when he was still there. Gabriela asks her father if she came alone. Gabriel says that she did. Gabriela asks what Helena wanted. Gabriel says that she came pretending to want to mend their problems but he could see right through her. He adds that he could tell that all she wanted was to see how she could manipulate him.

 

Gabriela tells her father that he should have told her brother immediately. Gabriel smiles and while calling Gabriela princess tells her to relax. He says that he may be sick, but he is an old fox and can take care of himself. Gabriela sighs. Calling her father, dad, she reminds him that he, she, Hernan, Aranza, and the children are still in danger from Helena and Carlos. She says until they can prove Helena and Carlos are murderers and get them out of the company, they have to be extra careful. Gabriel promises his daughter that he will be careful.

 

Back at the hospital,

Claudia says that she isn't so sure, but if Adrian and Paulina were killed, there is only one primary beneficiary. She adds that with her brother and sister-in-law out of the way, Helena got Adrianna's custody and used her niece to look good in Gabriel's eyes. She continues and says that was probably part of her plan to seduce and marry Gabriel. Antonio continues and says she then tried to get rid of Gabriel and his children. Claudia nods sadly then says something along that line. Antonio says he wouldn't be surprised if his father knew about everything because he is Helena's partner in crime. Claudia agrees.

 

She says that it breaks her to know that her son and husband are potentially such evil people. Antonio hugs his grandmother and tells her to relax. He says that she is sick and needs to get better. Just then someone knocks on the door. Antonio panics and looks at his grandmother. She whispers to him to relax, come up with something and open the door. Antonio stands up, breathes in, and walks to the door. He turns and looks at his grandmother. She looks like she hasn't woken up in hours. He then opens the door. Juan Patricio comes in. He looks at Antonio.

 

Back at Martin's house

Martin and Marianna are in the kitchen. He asks her if she is fine. Marianna says that she is. She says that she just wanted to ask for a favour from him. Martin asks her what it is. Marianna says that she would like him to accompany her when she goes to meet her family. Martin is a little surprised at her request. Marianna says that she is afraid of the first meeting. Martin tells her that they are good people and with time she will come to love them. Marianna says that she hopes so.

 

She adds that the initial meeting is going to be awkward and with everything she has done in the past she is even more worried about how they will react to her. Martin says that he has talked to Hernan and her grandfather especially is eager to meet her. Marianna says she feels better knowing that but she still would want him there. Martin says that he thinks that he shouldn't be there. He says that it's better because then they can be as open as possible without fearing saying anything in front of him.

 

Marianna doesn't say anything, she knows that he is right. Martin says that he will be there for her and even take her but the conversation she is going to have with her family should be done in private. He adds that she shouldn't feel pressured to feel comfortable around them immediately. Marianna asks him if she should take Dianna. Martin thinks about it then says she shouldn't. He says that he thinks that they should have an honest adult conversation and then involve Dianna and Thiago later. Marianna agrees and says that's better.

 

She then asks him who will stay with Dianna. Martin says that he will and Marianna frowns. She says that he can't keep on putting aside everything he had to do, for her and Dianna. Martin shrugs. He says that he loves Dianna like she was his daughter and staying with her isn't a sacrifice. Marianna says that it's hard to believe that he doesn't have better things to do than to babysit an almost-four-year-old girl. Martin adds who can be as stubborn as her mother. Marianna glares at him.

 

Back at the hospital,

Antonio is in his grandmother's room with his grandfather. Juan Patricio asks Antonio why he locked the door. He says that something could have happened to his grandmother. Antonio says that he hadn't been long. He says that he just needed a little privacy with her. Neither Antonio nor Juan Patricio notices the face Claudia makes. She says that she wishes she could spank Antonio for being so careless and exposing them. Juan Patricio asks Antonio if his grandmother spoke to him and what she said. Antonio says that he found her sleeping and decided not to wake her up.

 

Juan Patricio suspiciously asks Antonio how he could have had a conversation with his grandmother if she was asleep. Claudia says to herself that she doesn't see how he will get out of that. Antonio says that he knew that his grandmother wasn't well enough and he would probably find her sleeping but he had a few things he needed to get off his chest. He adds that it is no secret that he has not always gotten along with his grandmother but her accident made him realize that he does love her and that he does want to continue working to rebuild the relationship he has with her.

 

Juan Patricio who had been looking at Antonio the whole time he has been talking continues to do so. Antonio is afraid but is trying his very best to mask that. Juan Patricio asks himself just how much Antonio knows about the reports on Adrianna's parents. He adds that he has to watch him because Antonio is more intelligent than him. Juan Patricio asks Antonio how Gabriela and Ricardo are doing, and if he and Gabriela will adopt the boy. Antonio can read the look on his grandfather's face. It is a thinly veiled threat. Any wrong move and Gabriela and Ricardo are in danger. Antonio with an almost natural calm, says that his family is okay.

 

Back at Martin's house,

Marianna tells Martin that she is being serious. She asks him what he was going to do. He says that he was going to help his cousin take care of her children because Antonio has to take charge of his grandmother's health. Marianna says that she can't let him bail out on his cousin because she needs his help. Martin says that he wasn't going to bail out on Gabriela. He adds that he can do both. Marianna isn't so sure. Martin says that Dianna is going to need a lot of love around her to help her heal from the disruptions in her life. Marianna asks Martin why he is so nice to her when she has been such a bad person.

 

Martin says that it is because she is working to be a better person and also because he wouldn't want Dianna to be affected by anything that has happened. He then moves closer to her and puts a hand on her shoulder. Marianna looks up at him. Martin tells her to be calm and reminds her that he will always be there for her. They look at each other and Martin doesn't remove his hand from her shoulder. He remembers his vow to stay away from Marianna and with a lot of willpower, he prevents himself from kissing her and pulls away. Martin says that he will check on Dianna. After he leaves, Marianna closes her eyes for a second, and sighs. Things are getting far too complicated.

 

Hours later, at night,

At Hernan and Adrianna's house,

Adrianna is in the kitchen. She pours herself a glass of water. Her phone, which was nearby rings. She picks it up. It is an unknown number. She frowns but decides to answer it. It is one of the last people she wants to hear from, Alejandro. He starts to say that he loves her but she cuts him off. She hangs up the phone and puts her glass of water down. She turns and faces a wall thinking. She asks herself what she can possibly do to finally get Alejandro off her back. She continues and says that he is a pest. She is busy lost in her thoughts and doesn't notice Hernan until he puts his arms around her. She turns to face him and he smiles. He kisses her forehead.

 

He asks her what she was thinking about. Adrianna frowns. She says that Alejandro called her to bother her again. Hernan clutches his fingers. He tells Adrianna to give him her phone. Adrianna asks him why he wants her phone. Hernan says that he wants to talk to Alejandro. Adrianna shrugs and says that's it not necessary. Hernan frowns then says that it is necessary because he has to defend her. He adds that Alejandro cannot just call to bother her whenever the urge bites. Adrianna says that she understands that he wants to help her but she doesn't want to give Alejandro the attention he wants.

 

At Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Antonio is in his study. Today has been one of the worst days he has ever had. He runs his hand through his hair. What can he do? What he has just learnt, is potentially explosive. He says to himself that if Adrianna's parents were killed, she deserves justice. He adds that his hands are tied but he wants to do something because Adrianna is his best friend. Just then, there is a knock on the door. He knows that it’s Gabriela. He sighs then asks her to come in. Gabriela enters and watches Antonio. She asks him what is going on. Antonio asks her what she means. Gabriela says that even when he found out about Marianna's family he wasn't as rattled as he was at that moment.

 

Antonio fidgets but says that he is fine. Gabriela gives him and I don't believe you look. She says that she knows him well enough to know when something is wrong. She adds that he is usually a calm person but he looks very rattled. Antonio insists that he is fine. He says that he is just tired and stressed because of his grandmother. Gabriela glares at Antonio. She says that lying using his grandmother's name is going way too far. Antonio denies he is lying. He says that he is worried about his grandmother's health. Gabriela says that she knows that he is worried about his grandmother, but she knows him well enough to tell that it is something else that has got him like that.

 

Antonio stands up and goes to Gabriela's side. He holds up her face with some of his fingers. She looks up at him. He tells her that he is just mentally tired because of everything that has been happening. He kisses her (on the lips) and says that it isn't something that he cannot handle. Gabriela asks him why he is alone so late, thinking about something. Antonio says that sometimes somebody just needs a bit of quiet time. He says that he just needed to clear his head. Gabriela is still a bit doubtful but decides to let it go for the moment.

 

Back at Hernan and Adrianna's house,

Hernan tells Adrianna that it's not about Alejandro. He says that it's about keeping her safe and happy. He adds that they know how crazy Alejandro is and what he is capable of, so they need to keep him in check. Adrianna relents. She says that after all those years of living with Alejandro she just wants to never see him again. She says that she hopes that they can finally put him away especially as justice for Emma and to make sure he never contaminates Dianna's life. Hernan agrees. He says that Dianna is an innocent child and Alejandro despite being her father is a psycho killer and should be kept away from her. Adrianna says that Martin treats her very well and he is like a father to her. Hernan agrees.

 

Adrianna asks him if he thinks that Alejandro will try to do something to ruin Dianna's happiness, just to get back at Marianna. Hernan says that they can never be sure and with Alejandro, they should always expect the worst. He adds that regardless they will all be there to help Dianna. Adrianna is still worried, mostly for Dianna's sake. Hernan kisses her again on her forehead and assures her that everything will be okay. He holds her hands and leads her to their bedroom. Once there, he begins to kiss her and she kisses him back. He then begins to guide her to their bed, where they continue to kiss each other.
