EPISODE 136

 

Saturday dawns bright and early,

At Martin's house,

He is awake. He is on his way to the kitchen when he sees Marianna in the dining room. He decides to follow her instead. She has her head down and is deep in thought. When she notices his presence, she looks up at him. Marianna stands and tries to walk away but he holds her arm. She turns back to face him. Martin asks her if she is fine. Marianna says that she is. She adds that she was just thinking about meeting her newly found family. She says that the thought scares her.

 

Martin says that he understands how she feels. He adds that it is an emotional roller-coaster. Marianna says that the fear that they won't get along scares her. Martin tells Marianna that she can't control how people react to her. He adds that all she should focus on is her daughter and being a better person. Martin then realizes that he is still holding onto Marianna. He gives her one last look then lets her go. She looks at him but says nothing.

 

Elsewhere,

At the mansion,

Carlos is in the study (that was once Gabriel's). He is casually looking through some business documents when his phone rings. He picks it up. It is his father. He quickly notices the panic in his father's voice and asks him about it. Juan Patricio says that they need to meet urgently. Carlos asks him why they need to meet so urgently. Juan Patricio says that he would rather they meet face to face than talk over the phone. Carlos says that he will come.

 

Elsewhere,

At Antonio and Gabriela's house.

Gabriela walks into the kitchen. There she finds Antonio sitting near the counter table. He has opened a packet of juice. The glass nearby is half full. She can see that he is busy thinking about something. What is it? Antonio is clearly disturbed but won't tell her anything. She tells herself that he has been acting strangely since he visited his grandmother the previous day. She also asks herself if his grandmother told him something. She moves forward and he notices her presence. Antonio turns and faces her.

 

Gabriela says that she knows that something is going on and she wants to help him. Antonio remains silent and doesn't answer. Gabriela asks him if his grandmother is okay. He says that she is fine. To himself, Antonio says that his grandmother is well enough to exaggerate her condition. He then walks over to her and holds up her chin. He kisses her and tells her not to worry. He says that he is fine and that she should trust him.

 

Sometime later,

At Natalia and Damian's house,

Marianna takes a deep breath and knocks on the door. She says that she hopes that the day goes on well. After some seconds, she hears footsteps and someone turning the doorknob. She sighs. The door is opened and Marianna is face to face with her cousin, Renata. Renata greets her and welcomes her in.

 

Meanwhile at Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Gabriela is with Ricardo and Hannibal. She looks at Martin who has just arrived with Dianna. Martin says to himself that he knows that Gabriela is going to quiz him about Dianna and Marianna. Dianna holds onto Martin's hand. He then turns to her and tells her to go and greet Gabriela. Gabriela smiles and Dianna walks over to her. She hugs her.

 

At the Montes De Alba mansion,

Carlos, Helena, and Juan Patricio are in Gabriel's old study. Carlos asks Juan Patricio to finally tell them what is going on. Juan Patricio's face gets serious. He says that they have a developing crisis on their hand. Helena asks him what he is talking about. Juan Patricio says that Claudia found the report on Adrianna's father's car and her parent's death certificates. Both Carlos and Helena are shocked. Juan Patricio continues and says that he is also very sure that she told Antonio. Carlos says that nothing makes sense.

 

He adds that his mother has been in the hospital for the past several days, recovering from the accident. He adds that she hasn't been well enough to tell Antonio anything. Juan Patricio says that she could have told him before. Carlos says that he knows his son. He adds that if Antonio had known something, he would not continue remaining silent. Helena reminds both Juan Patricio and Carlos that Antonio was the mastermind behind Gabriel's reveal and he made sure that everything was done in complete secret.

 

Elsewhere at Natalia and Damian's house,

Marianna is with her family. She is nervous. She says that she knows that she has done a lot of evil things, and she wouldn't blame them if they never wanted anything to do with her. Renata says that even though she made mistakes, what matters is that she is sorry, ready to be accountable and she is willing to change. Santiago asks her where her daughter is. Marianna says that she thought that it would be better if Dianna wasn't there for the first meeting. Renata agrees that it was better not to have either of the kids there. Santiago says that she is his granddaughter and he loves her.

 

Marianna says that she is imperfect and she will embarrass him. Santiago says that despite everything she is a treasure his son left behind. He insists that he loves her regardless. He adds that with everything that might happen in the future, they were there to help and support her. Damian says that her resemblance to her grandmother is very striking. Natalia moves over to her and hugs her. She welcomes her to the family. Renata says that she hopes that they can continue the friendship that they have been building. Marianna smiles.

 

At Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Martin tells Gabriela that now that the children were in the sitting room, she could get to nagging him in peace. Gabriela frowns. She asks Martin what he means. Martin tells Gabriela not to pretend. He says that she is his cousin and he knows her very well. Gabriela rolls her eyes. She says that she was just curious about his growing bond with Dianna. Martin shrugs. He says that Dianna is an innocent child and he doesn't think she should have to pay for things that are way above her. Gabriela looks at Martin. She says that she can see that he loves Dianna like she was his daughter. Martin smiles. He admits that he does love her. He says that he would not mind formally adopting her.

 

Gabriela is surprised. Martin says that he has been planning to talk to Adrianna about it for some time and he has finally decided to do it in the coming week. Gabriela asks him what he plans to do about Marianna. Martin fiddles and says that regardless of what happens with Marianna, he does plan on keeping Dianna. Gabriela says that's fine but what she wants to know is what he feels about Marianna. Martin remembers the day he kissed Marianna and how it felt. Feigning indifference since then has been pure torture. Being near her but pretending he feels nothing has been much harder than he expected.

 

Martin says that they get along very well and he is happy to help her and her daughter. Gabriela glares at him. She says that she knows that he is helping her out of the goodness of his heart because he is a gentleman like their grandfather. She adds that what she wants to know is if anything has happened between him and Marianna. Martin glares at Gabriela. He says that he hasn't slept with Marianna since that's what she wanted to know.

 

Back at the Montes De Alba mansion,

Juan Patricio has just told Carlos what happened in Clara's hospital room. He adds that now they can understand why he strongly believes that Antonio knows the truth. Carlos says that as much as the threat was veiled, Antonio understood the hidden meaning and will be careful about what he does next. Juan Patricio says that they need to monitor Antonio. Helena reminds them that monitoring alone won't help. Carlos remains quiet as something hits him. Helena asks him what's going on. Carlos looks at his father. He asks him if he is behind his (Carlos) mother's accident. He adds that he knows what she found out and therefore has a motive.

 

Carlos also adds that they both know that Antonio would never hurt his grandmother because he loves her. Juan Patricio says that he didn't hurt his wife. He adds that what happened to Claudia was an accident. Carlos looks at his father very suspiciously. He says that they both know what he is capable of. Juan Patricio tells Carlos that he is not a saint and that he is in no position to judge anyone. Carlos says that he may be a criminal, but he would never try to kill his mother, no matter the circumstances. He adds that there should be boundaries even among them. Juan Patricio glares at his son.

 

He says that he wasn't behind what happened to his (Carlos) mother. Carlos glares at his father. Helena watches the two of them. She says that they have bigger issues to think about. She says that now that Claudia is in the hospital, this is the best time to go through her things, to see if they can find the documents. She also adds that they need to do it before Claudia is released from the hospital or Antonio does something. Carlos looks from Helena to his father. He then tells his father that if he finds out that he tried to kill his mother, he will kill him himself. Juan Patricio glares at Carlos.

 

Back at Natalia and Damian's house,

Marianna says that she will never stop being sorry for everything she has done and for everyone she has hurt. Renata says that they mean it when they say that they will be there for her. Santiago remembers the visions he had in which he spoke to his wife. He remembers her telling him that he needed to be strong because their family needed him. He also remembers her telling him that their family would grow soon. He also remembered what Diego told him. Just then he feels an arm on his shoulder. He looks aside and sees Renata. Marianna is near her. Santiago smiles at his granddaughters. He tells them to relax. Renata says that they were just worried about him.

 

Marianna says that if he isn't feeling well, they can take him to the hospital first. Santiago smiles and while calling Marianna and Renata my princesses, he tells them to relax. He says that he was just thinking about dreams he had where he talked to his son and his wife. Everyone else is surprised at that. Damian asks his father what they said. Santiago says that they encouraged him to continue being strong and they threw hints about Marianna. She is shocked. Santiago also says that Diego told him to be peaceful and calm because his murderers will soon pay for their crimes, even if it has taken so long.

 

Marianna wipes away a few tears and Renata hugs her. Santiago says that he would like to meet Dianna. Marianna says that she will bring her very soon. Natalia asks Marianna what she plans to do with Dianna. Marianna sighs sadly and then says that Martin has grown very fond of her and her of him. She adds that he has expressed interest in legally adopting her. She adds that they will talk to Adrianna, who took care of Dianna for some time, and then work out the best timeline and plan to do that.

 

Back at Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Gabriela rolls her eyes. She says that she knows that it's not because he doesn't want to. She says it’s probably because he hasn't realized that he loves Marianna and he is trying to fight whatever he feels for her. Martin glares at his cousin and says that she is crazy. He says that Dianna is like a daughter to him and she is what matters most. Gabriela asks Martin if he is pushing Marianna away because he doesn't want to complicate things for Dianna if his relationship with Marianna was to end. Martin looks at Gabriela and says that he isn't interested in Marianna.

 

He adds that he wants a normal relationship and the situation with Marianna is complicated. Gabriela asks him whether he is trying to convince her or himself. Martin shakes his head. Gabriela is nuts. Gabriela continues and says that he is a good person who always does the right thing and is always there when anyone in their family needs help but love and attraction defy logic. Martin asks Gabriela what she means. Gabriela says that he has feelings for Marianna that even he cannot understand. Martin smiles and while calling Gabriela, little cousin tells her that she is crazy.

 

Meanwhile at the local park,

Hernan is sitting with his father. Gabriel says that there are some things he talked about with his (Hernan) sister that he would like to tell him (Hernan). Hernan asks his father what he was referring to. Gabriel says that he would like to visit the mansion because he thinks that being there might help him recover. Hernan agrees. He adds that eventually the mansion will go back to their family and they should start working towards that. Gabriel says that they can definitely expect resistance from Helena and Carlos.

 

Hernan agrees but says that it's his (Gabriel)'s house and he can visit whenever he wants. He adds that they don't owe Helena or Carlos prior notification either. Gabriel says that they should tell them before, not to seek permission but as a matter of polite formality. Hernan says that Helena and Carlos are killers and don't deserve politeness, even if in pretense. Gabriel tells Hernan that he too wants to make Helena and Carlos pay but they have to pick their battles well.

 

He adds that right now, the house is not worth the fight. Hernan reluctantly agrees. Gabriel adds that he also thinks that the three of them and the children should visit his mother's grave. Hernan says that he is happy that they can all finally do it in the open. He then asks his father, how much longer it will take for him to get his legal identity. Gabriel says that it won't take much longer, and he can expect to have it the next week.

 

Days later, on Monday.

In Claudia's hospital room,

She is awake. She thinks about the conversation between Juan Patricio and Antonio. She asks herself if Juan Patricio is sick enough to attempt to hurt Gabriela and Ricardo. She says that she has to try and do something. She adds that if there is a secret concerning how Adrianna's parents died, she and Antonio have to find a way of finding out what that is.

 

Elsewhere at Montes De Alba Inc.,

Gabriel is walking along the hallways of Montes De Alba Inc. when he runs into Carlos. Carlos looks at him with disdain. Gabriel ignores him and walks past him. Carlos says to himself that he will not let him (Gabriel) or his children take back the company. He adds that he got rid of them once and he will do that again if necessary.
