Back at Martin's house,

Marianna asks Martin what he is talking about. Martin says that he could legally adopt her. Marianna is so shocked she doesn't say anything. Martin continues and says that they will, of course, consult with Adrianna. He adds that he is sure Dianna will be happy. Marianna asks Martin if he is crazy. She sarcastically asks him whether he thought about adopting Dianna early that morning. Martin calls her my salty little witch. Marianna glares at him.

She says that she will ignore that because they have more important things to think about. She asks him if he even understands the magnitude of what he is saying. Martin folds his hands and says that he does know what he is doing. He says that he would not tell her he wanted to adopt Dianna if he was not sure he wanted to do it. Marianna is still unsure about Martin's idea. She tells Martin that adopting Dianna won't be like buying something that he can decide to resell if it bores him.

She adds that deciding to adopt Dianna will have a lot of complications in terms of time, finances, emotions and so many other ways. Martin smiles and says that he wants to adopt Dianna because he loves her. He adds that he will work hard and take care of Dianna to the best of his abilities. Marianna says that she doesn't doubt that he would. Martin then says that he doesn't see what the issue is. Marianna says that she might go to jail and he will eventually find love again and Dianna could cause a problem for him in that area.

Meanwhile,

At Hernan and Adrianna's house,

Gabriel had taken Gisela who had fallen asleep to her bed. He was on his way to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Just then, he hears a knock on the door. He then moves near the door and asks who it is. Helena replies that it's her. Gabriel is surprised. Why would Helena come to visit him and especially at that time? He looks around the house. He spots a pole in a corner and fetches it. Helena calls him again. Gabriel tells himself that it is time to find out what Helena wants. He then removes his phone and scrolls to the voice recorder. He turns it on and puts it near a well-hidden place. He then goes and opens the door.

Helena is shocked to see Gabriel holding the pole. He asks her if she is alone. She says that she is. Gabriel folds his hands and asks Helena why she came. He says that it is too late for an unannounced social call. Helena tells him to relax. She adds that she comes in peace. Gabriel's facial expression shows that he doesn't believe her. Helena says that they are still married, so there is nothing wrong with her visiting him. Gabriel says that he was declared dead and a death certificate was issued over twenty years ago. He adds that their marriage was dissolved after he was declared dead. Helena says that she is sure that the children have already told him all kinds of lies about her.

Gabriel says that a person who is capable of blackmailing her own daughter and choosing the side of the attempted rapist has very little credibility or moral standing. Helena says that she comes in peace. Gabriel says that it's too much of a coincidence that she came on the day that Hernan and Adrianna were out. He asks her if she had him followed. Helena pretends to be hurt and insulted. She says that she came so they could talk and end up being civil to each other. She adds that they have a lot of common interests like their daughter and the company.

Gabriel says that she never loved their daughter and now that Aranza is an adult, she is finally free from her control. He adds putting aside their daughter her only interest is in his family's fortune. Helena says that everyone was sad when they thought he was dead but life had to move on. Gabriel says he can only imagine. Helena continues and says that someone had to take charge of the company for the children's sake. Gabriel asks her why she and Carlos left his children to play and took Adrianna and Antonio. Helena is caught off guard.

Back at Martin's house,

Martin tells Marianna that he isn't too preoccupied with finding a girlfriend. He adds that when it happens it will. Marianna says that regardless she doesn't want to be a burden to him. Martin sighs. Marianna is so stubborn. He asks her why she isn't listening to him. He adds that his decision to want to adopt Dianna is independent of what will happen to her or what will happen in his personal life. Marianna prances around thinking. She tells Martin that it's hard to believe that he wants to adopt Dianna. She then looks at him and says that there is something she wants to ask though it will be painful for him. Martin shrugs. He says that whatever it is she can ask. Marianna looks down then looks at Martin.

She asks him if he wants to adopt Dianna since she is Alejandro's daughter. Martin asks her what that has to do with his decision. Marianna says it’s kind of like an eye for an eye and maybe he wants to adopt Dianna to replace the child he would have had if Alejandro hadn't killed Emma. Martin tells Marianna that he wouldn't use Dianna to settle scores. He says that would be foolish because once he became rational again, he might end up regretting his decision. Marianna says that it might be tricky for him to get Dianna's custody because he is young and single and she is a little girl.

Martin sighs. He says that he knows that. He adds that he knows that with Adrianna's guidance and help from her family and his, he can raise Dianna. Marianna asks him what will happen after she is released. Martin says that they will raise Dianna together. Marianna says that a lot can happen. She says that either or both of them can find love. Martin tries to ignore that. The thought of Marianna with someone else bothered him. He says that they shouldn't predict the future because they can't control things like if they will fall in love, when, and with who.

Back at Hernan and Adrianna's house,

The day was about testing the waters and seeing if she could find an opportunity to manipulate Gabriel. She, however, had not counted on him being so sharp or trying to poke holes in her accounts of how things happened. Gabriel notes her reaction very carefully. Gabriel asks Helena why she seems to be at a loss for words. Helena says that she is silent because she is so shocked at what he is accusing her of doing. Gabriel says that he hasn't accused her of anything.

He adds that he is simply stating the irregularities in what happened to his children. Helena is fast scrambling in her head for how to salvage the situation. She says that Aranza was unwell but the twins still wanted to play, so she and Carlos decided to let them play. Gabriel glares at Helena in much the same way Aranza would. He tells her not to test his intelligence. He says that their whole story is pure nonsense and he isn't foolish enough to believe that the twins wanted to play in the forest.

Helena insists they did. Gabriel sarcastically says so she left eight-year-old children in the forest alone. Helena is caught in a corner. What does she say? Gabriel says that she has to try harder if she wants to cover up that she purposefully left his children far into the forest to try and kill them. Helena takes a deep breath. The meeting is going worse than she expected.

Back at Martin's house,

Martin asks Marianna if there is anything else, she wanted to discuss. Marianna says that there isn't. They both know that they have not even touched the surface of the biggest issue they need to talk about- their growing attraction to each other and the kiss they shared a few days ago. Martin hasn't made any move to get closer to Marianna. Marianna says that knowing Alejandro and how vengeful he is, he might try to take Dianna away from her. She adds that she isn't exactly in a good position to be given her daughter's custody.

Martin says that Alejandro has no moral authority to judge her or question her parenting skills. He adds that they can work with Adrianna and get a good lawyer. Marianna is scared. Martin moves near her and puts a hand on her shoulder. She looks at him. Martin says that it will be hard but they have to do all they can to keep Dianna safe. They look at each other. Martin wants to kiss her but remembers his promise to keep away from her. He then moves away from her. Marianna doesn't do or say anything.

Back at Hernan and Adrianna's house,

Gabriel says that they should get straight to the point and talk about the company. He says that the company is his children's and it is they who should run it. Helena says that it is sad and hurtful just how ungrateful he is being. She says that after the unfortunate accidents of both him and the twins, she worked hard and made the company what it has become. Gabriel says that most of the work she has done has involved scheming and lying her way into controlling the company. Helena sighs inwardly.

Things were going to be harder than she thought.

Helena then says that she and Carlos have worked hard for years to grow the company and it would be unfair to remove them because of rumors. Gabriel asks her if she came to him to plead for their positions. He adds that the company will get back to where it belongs and that is being run by his children and him. Helena says that she came to reach a deal with him, but she can see that his children have poisoned his mind against her. Gabriel says that he may be sick but he isn't stupid and can see right through her lies and schemes.

He says that there are many inconsistencies in her and Carlos's plan. He adds that it is shocking that no one has asked any questions. He then asks her how much in bribe money she paid. Helena insists that the car accident that almost killed him was really an accident. Gabriel says that it is hard to believe anything that is said by a person capable of blackmailing her own daughter. He then coolly asks Helena if she has an excuse for that. Helena says that was a misunderstanding based on her daughter overreacting. She adds that an unfortunate incident occurred when Aranza and her friends were drunk. Gabriel glares at her.

Two days later on Friday,

In the evening,

At the hospital,

Antonio is at the hospital after work as he often is, to check up on his grandmother. She has greatly improved in the two weeks or so since she had been admitted. She was even lucky to have been transferred to a normal room. She, however, had not said much, as her vocal cords were still healing. Antonio knocks and enters. His grandmother is still sleeping. Antonio moves and kisses her forehead. He then says that he will always be there to take care of her just like she did with him when he was a child. Just then his grandmother moves. Antonio is concerned. He turns to call the doctor when his grandmother calls him by his full name.

Antonio turns and stares at his grandmother shocked. He moves to her side, a mixture of shock and concern on his face. He asks her if she is fine. Claudia tells him that she is. She then tells him to go and lock the door. Antonio looks at his grandmother shocked. What is she upto? Claudia coughs and glares at Antonio. She tells him that she will not repeat her instructions again. She adds that they don't have too much time before someone comes in. Antonio looks at his grandmother but goes and locks the door. He then comes and sits by his grandmother's side. He asks her what's going on. He says that he is worried about her. Claudia tells him to relax a little bit.

Elsewhere, at Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Gabriela is with Ricardo and Hannibal in the kitchen when her father comes in. He had come to visit her and Antonio for some days, earlier that afternoon. She asks him if he feels well or he wants something. Gabriel says that he is fine. Hannibal runs to him saying, grandpa. Ricardo stays quietly behind Gabriela. He says that his major problem is that he is bored of doing nothing. He says that doing nothing will make him crazy again. Gabriela frowns at her father and tells him that it wasn't funny.

Gabriel walks towards his daughter. He tells her that those dark years of his life are finally over and he can make light of it all. He says that finally, he can freely spend time with her, her siblings, his grandchildren, and Anna Patricia. Gabriela tells the boys to go and watch cartoons because she has to go and talk with their grandfather. Gabriel puts Hannibal down and he calls Ricardo. When the children have gone to the dining room, Gabriela asks her father if there is anything, he would like to tell her.

Gabriel looks at his daughter and says that he would like to go to the mansion, and just look around. He says that if he is to get back to living his life, he needs to see some of the familiar places from his life before the accident. Gabriela agrees. Gabriel says that he is a bit concerned about Helena and Carlos's reaction. Gabriela looks at her father and while calling him dad tells him that it is his house and it's Helena and Carlos who should feel awkward because they stole it. Gabriela adds that he should be free to visit anytime and any way they will eventually get back everything Helena and Carlos stole from them.

Elsewhere,

Claudia tells Antonio that she wants him to do her a favor, but he has to be very careful about it. Antonio looks at his grandmother and asks her what she means. Claudia says that she wants him to access her email account. Antonio is confused. He asks her what she wants him to look for. Claudia tells him that she will find the death certificate of Adrianna's parents and the report done on their car after their accident. Antonio is shocked at this. He asks her how she got hold of such documents. Claudia says that she found them by accident once when she went into his grandfather's office. Antonio asks his grandmother to explain everything. Claudia says that there's not much to say.

She adds that she went into the room, to get something when she saw a red envelope that stood out. She adds that it seemed out of place and her curiosity was raised. She adds that she had a feeling when she looked at the envelope and so she hid it and started to leave so that she could go to her room and read it. She adds that she ran into his grandfather on her way out and he asked her why she was there. Claudia says that she said that she had left a book in there and had come for it. She then continues and says that in the privacy of her room, she opened the letter and found the documents. She then adds that she didn't know what to do, and so she decided to ask him about it because he is very clever.

Claudia finishes by saying that she was on her way to his house when the accident happened. Antonio runs his hand through his hair. What does it mean? He asks his grandmother if there was anything else. Claudia says that a lot of questions have passed through her head since then, like why his grandfather has the documents, if the report on the car is fake or not and who could be behind what happened to her. Antonio asks his grandmother what she means. Claudia says that another car was purposely trying to get them off the road and probably had been trailing them. Antonio takes a deep breath. He asks himself if his grandfather would be that twisted and sick in the head.
