EPISODE 124

 

Elsewhere at the hospital,

Renata tells her parents that Antonio Diaz called her because Thiago went to his house. Natalia says that Thiago must have gone there to ask for Antonio's help. Renata nods. Damian smiles and says that the boy has guts. Renata frowns and says that he could have hurt himself or gotten lost or something. Her father says that it could have but it didn't. He adds that she needs to have faith in Thiago. He adds that Thiago is a smart boy, who knows what he is doing. Natalia adds that Thiago is old enough to handle such a situation. Renata is still shaken by her son's antics.

 

Back at Martin's house,

Martin has just finished telling Marianna the whole story of how Antonio came to know Thiago's family. He also tells Marianna that he understands that she wants to see where she can help that family, but she needs to be safe and to take care of herself. Marianna insists that she wants to come with him. Martin says that he knows that she is bored, and tired of seeing his face, but he is going to a hospital not to have fun. Marianna glares at him. She tells him that she's not stupid and she wants to go to help. Martin stands his ground that he isn't going with Marianna, and she frowns.

 

Sometime later, at Antonio and Gabriela's house

They are having lunch when they hear another knock and Antonio goes to open the door. He stands frozen to the spot when he sees who it is. He manages to say hi grandma. She tells him that it is rude to make her stand outside. He smiles, welcomes her in, and closes the door. Claudia looks at him in a what are you upto manner, as they walk towards the dining room. She asks him if he is fine. Antonio says that he is fine. Back in the dining room, Thiago asks Gabriela how he will get home. She tells him not to worry because Antonio will take him home, later on.

 

 

Just then Claudia and Antonio reach the dining room. She greets everyone and sits. She then asks Antonio who the child (Thiago) is. Antonio freezes. For all these years, his father and grandparents hadn't known about him hitting Thiago years earlier, and he'd asked everyone not to tell them anything. Antonio knows that he can't tell her how he met Thiago. He regrets doing it, and it was one of the stupidest things he had ever done. Antonio loves his grandmother, and he wouldn't want her to be disappointed in him.

 

Hitting Thiago was one of the few things he would rather his grandmother not know he did. Gabriela looks at Antonio and knows that she has to bail him out before his grandmother suspects something. She tells Claudia that Thiago lives near where Martin does and Antonio met him through her and her cousin. Claudia looks at Antonio in an I -don't- believe- you tone, but she says nothing. Antonio says that Thiago came to ask for their help. Claudia faces Thiago and asks how he wants Antonio to help him. Thiago explains his great grandfather's situation. Claudia is touched and says that she too will help. Antonio looks at his grandmother and she waves him away saying that she is not an ogre.

 

Later on,

At the Montes De Alba mansion,

Carlos and Helena have just been briefed by the people they hired to follow the twins, Adrianna, Antonio, Aurelio, Aranza, and Martin. Carlos tells Helena that she can relax. He adds that every single move any one of those people makes is being monitored. Helena tells Carlos that he underestimates his son too much. She adds that Antonio is a very intelligent person and if anything is happening, Antonio is at the center of it and is keeping it under wraps.

 

Carlos smiles and asks her what his son could do and what secret weapon the twins could have. Helena tells him that Aranza has her father's brains and she shouldn't be underestimated either. Carlos says that they have the upper hand in this game and there is nothing any of the children can do. Helena wants to believe him but she cannot shake the feeling that something is up.

 

The next day on Sunday,

In the afternoon, Antonio has gone with Gabriela and Claudia to the hospital. Aurelio and Aranza also arrive separately. They find Renata and Thiago. Her parents have gone to sort the paperwork. After greeting everyone Claudia asks Antonio to follow her. Antonio knows his grandmother and he knows that wasn't a request. Soon after Martin comes in with Marianna. Everyone is shocked to see Martin there with Marianna. He feels a little bit awkward. Renata turns and sees them. Her face turns pale when she sees Marianna. For Renata looking at Marianna feels like looking at a ghost from the past. She feels like the room is swirling round and round.

 

Shortly after,

Claudia tells Antonio that she will take care of ensuring that Thiago's great-grandfather gets the required treatment. Antonio looks at his grandmother a little shocked. He says he is surprised that she has volunteered to help Thiago's family. Claudia says that she isn't an ogre. Antonio smiles and says that she is the best grandmother ever and hugs her. Claudia smiles.

 

Meanwhile,

Thiago asks Aranza if his mother will be fine. Aranza assures him that his mother will be fine. She adds that his mother is a little tired and stressed but she will be okay. Hernan and Adrianna arrive a little later than everyone else. As they are coming in, they ran into Natalia and Damian. They greet them and continue walking with them towards the waiting area. They are surprised to find Aranza, Aurelio, and Thiago there. Aranza and Aurelio are trying to calm a visibly fearful Thiago. Natalia asks where everyone else is. Aurelio says that Renata fainted and Marianna followed her with the doctor while Antonio went with his grandmother and Gabriela went with Martin.

 

Elsewhere at the hospital,

Gabriela is with Martin at the parking lot of the hospital. Martin looks at his cousin and tells her that he knows that she wants to interrogate him about him bringing Marianna there. He adds that he needs to go and check up on her. Gabriela says that Marianna is fine, and it wasn't her that fainted. Martin tells Gabriela that she may be right but he has to make sure Marianna is safe because Alejandro is out there and he is crazy. Gabriela folds her hands and looks at Martin.

 

He looks at her and asks her what she wants to nag him about. Gabriela rolls her eyes and says she wanted to talk to him alone about Marianna. Martin asks her what she wants to know. Gabriela asks Martin if there is anything that Marianna or the investigators have told him that he isn't telling the rest of the family. Martin looks at Gabriela like he doesn't know what she is talking about. He says that Marianna told the police all she had to say about the case, and he isn't directly involved in the case.

Gabriela says that he went to visit Marianna more than anyone else in the family and was like the family's representative.

 

She adds that he got to see and understand a different side of Marianna, and he might have heard or seen something. She also adds that maybe Marianna told him something. Martin's mind goes back to a flashback when Marianna told him that her friends thought that she was in love with him and might have done a few things behind her back. He then comes back to the present. He doesn't need to tell Gabriela that. There is no need to make the family more paranoid over Marianna than they already are. Martin says that he doesn't know anything. Gabriela asks him what the momentary pause was for.

 

Elsewhere at the hospital,

Renata has gained consciousness. She is sitting on a bed. She is trying to readjust herself. She hears a knock on the door and then Marianna comes in. She greets her again and sits. Marianna then asks Renata if she is fine. Renata says she is and apologizes for her reaction to seeing her. Marianna says that it is fine. Renata says that she reacted that way because she (Marianna) reminded her of her grandmother.

 

Renata says that she (Marianna) looks like her grandmother did when she was much younger. Renata adds that the resemblance is so striking she can't believe it. Marianna shrugs. She admits that she never met her father and her mother was never really interested in raising her, and abandoned her at an orphanage when she was younger, never to return. Marianna asks Renata if she can show her, her grandmother's picture. Renata says that she will.

 

Back with Gabriela and Martin,

Martin says that the pause wasn't for anything. Gabriela says that she knows him too well and knows that he is lying. Martin asks her what she wants. He says that it's not like he is hiding some secret that will affect the investigation or something like that. Gabriela says that she has always been curious about why a certain part of the evidence was redacted.

Martin says that it was the police investigators who were in charge of writing the report, so if they wanted to redact a certain part, they knew what they were doing. Gabriela says that since Alejandro, Isabella, and Horacio are still free then the statement and especially the redacted part was not enough to take them to jail or affect the investigation enough.

 

Martin stares at his cousin speechless. He forgot that Gabriela was super smart. He says that Marianna wanted a small part of her statement redacted in the copies of the statement that she (Gabriela), Adrianna, and Emma's family got. Gabriela is surprised and asks him why Marianna would want to redact anything. Martin looks uncomfortable at the conversation but says that Alejandro, Isabella, and Horacio, often told Marianna that she was soft and in love with him (Martin).

 

Gabriela looks at her cousin a little shocked. Martin ignores her reaction and says that Marianna admitted that when they were told that Emma had found out their secret, she suggested that they scare her and Horacio suggested that they kill her. Marianna adds that she kept on insisting that they scare Emma and she thought that she had convinced the others.

Martin continues and says that she couldn't vouch for her friends because they could have killed Emma behind her back because of the reasons he just said. Gabriela asks Martin how he feels about it.

 

He says that he was very angry at her for a while, but he has gradually come to forgive her. Gabriela asks him if he has feelings for Marianna. Martin says that he doesn't. She asks him if anything has ever happened between them. Martin says that Mariana divorced her brother not too long ago and he would never have had anything to do with her, while she was still married to Hernan. Gabriela says that she knows that, but now Marianna is single. Martin folds his hands and glares at Gabriela. He tells her that she sounds just like their grandmother. Gabriela says to herself that she will find out the truth one way or another.

 

Two days pass and on Tuesday,

At Antonio and Gabriela's house,

Antonio is with Aranza. They took a break from work because they had a very important task to do. Today was the moment they met the person who would help them with her (Aranza's) father's reveal. Aranza says that she gets the part where they have to meet in a secure environment, but she doesn't get why they have to do it at his house. Antonio says that they couldn't do it in an open space like a restaurant because anyone could come in at any time. He adds that his house is much safer. Antonio then asks her if she knows exactly what they have to do. Aranza rolls her eyes and says that she does. Antonio reminds her that the other person's safety is key.

 

Aranza asks Antonio if he is sure that he wants her to take charge of talking to Delia. Antonio says he is. He adds that he trusts her and believes that she is capable of handling things. He says that they have to stop his father and her mother and help end their reign of terror. Aranza agrees. Just then there is a knock on the door and Aranza goes to open the door. Antonio follows her. Aranza frowns at him but continues walking on. The person at the door is a young lady slightly younger than Antonio. She greets both Antonio and Aranza and says that she is Delia Garcia and they had called her to talk to her. Aranza tells her to follow them both in.

 

Elsewhere,

Renata is at the hospital, to visit her grandfather. Her mind, however, is on Marianna. She cannot get over how much like her grandmother Marianna looks. She says that Marianna is a little younger than her and is old enough to be her late uncle's daughter. She then asks herself if her uncle Diego could have had a daughter before he died. She takes out her phone and scrolls the gallery section. She is looking at pictures showing her grandmother in her mid-thirties. She says now the focus is on her grandfather and his health but once he stabilizes, she would like to find out if Marianna is her cousin. She takes a deep breath and walks on.

 

Back at Antonio's house,

Antonio, Aranza, and Delia are in Antonio's living room. Antonio asks Delia to relax. He adds that he understands that she is a little wary because she doesn't really know what she is doing there but Aranza will explain to her why she is there. Aranza asks Delia if she knows Octavio Garcia. Delia's eyes sadden. She says that he was her uncle and he died in a car crash long ago, almost twenty-two years earlier.

 

Aranza says that she isn't sure how much she (Delia) knows about the accident given that she was a child at the time just like all of them, but the accident wasn't really an accident. Delia is confused. She asks Aranza if someone wanted to kill her uncle. Aranza says that her uncle was an innocent victim of a vicious plot, by his (Antonio's) father and her (Aranza's) mother to gain control of the Montes De Alba fortune. Aranza says that the main target was always her father and siblings.
