Several hours later,
Marianna is in her room. She is still thinking about finding out that Hector and Gina were the missing Montes De Alba twins. She says that she won't judge them because she is in no place to judge anyone, and also because Helena and Carlos probably killed their father before trying to kill them and then stole their father's money. She adds that if the same thing had happened to her, she would also want to avenge her father. Before she can continue, she hears somebody open the door. She waits to see who it is. It's Martin. Marianna's breath is caught in her throat. He is just as handsome as he has always been.
He asks her how she is. Marianna says that she is fine. He asks her if she has read the story about the twins. Marianna says she has. She says that it is trending all over. She says that he might not believe her but she feels sorry for what happened to them. Martin says nothing but smiles. She says to herself that he is just too attractive. She says that if things had turned out differently, she would have loved to be with him. When Martin sees that Marianna's mind has wandered off, he moves nearer to her and places a hand on her forehead. She then comes back to the present and asks him what he was doing.
He says that he got jealous when she wasn't paying attention to him. Marianna smiles at him. She says that she can see that he is just as sarcastic as ever. Martin then says that he came to talk to her about something. Marianna asks him what he wanted to talk to her about. Martin says that he was just wondering what would happen once she was released. Marianna says that she will go back to her house. She then looks at Martin questioningly. She says that she finds it strange that he would come all this way, especially with everything happening, to ask her where she will go. Martin says that she will probably still need some kind of care, even after being discharged and he was concerned. Marianna tells him not to worry. She says that she will be fine.
Elsewhere,
At the mental hospital,
Due to the drama surrounding the revelations that Hector and Gina were the missing Montes De Alba twins, they were both unable to go and visit their father. However, Aranza does. When she enters his room, she goes and hugs him and starts crying. Her father hugs her too. It pains him to see her sad. She says that she doesn't understand why her brother and sister had to lie straight to everyone's face. Gabriel says that she told him that her mother is an evil woman who tried to kill the twins. Aranza says that her mother is evil but it doesn't explain why they didn't just say who they were when they came back into her, Adrianna, and Antonio's lives.
She adds that she can understand them having to go away as children because they were defenseless, but when they grew up, they should have told the truth. Gabriel says that maybe they shouldn't have lied to everyone when they came back to the city, but their hearts were in the right place. Aranza looks at her father surprised. She says that she can understand her siblings wanting to take revenge for their father's death and taking back the company Helena and Carlos stole, but they would have prevented a lot of heartache and problems by telling the truth in the beginning.
Gabriel says now that everything is out in the open, they can work on making up for lost time and getting back what is rightfully theirs. He then asks her if she is angry at her brother and sister. Aranza seems to think about it, then says that she doesn't think she is. She adds that she is just so confused because it has been a long and emotionally draining day. She adds that she cannot wait to talk to them after, they have talked to Adrianna and Antonio because she wants to hear what they have to say. Gabriel says to himself that soon enough, she will know that she is his daughter.
Later that night,
At Antonio and Gabriela's house,
Antonio was in his study. He had said very little to Gabriela since he came. He had come back late. It had been a very long day for him. He had always known that she was keeping something big from him but never in his wildest dreams would he have believed it was so life-changing. She and her brother were the missing twins. There is a knock on the door and Gabriela comes in, He barely looks up at her. She says that she knows that she is the last person he wants to see but they have to talk. She says that she is sorry. He looks up from his laptop, then stands by the side of the desk facing her. He coolly asks her what else is left for them to discuss. He adds that the newspaper report said everything.
Gabriela says that she wants them to talk and for her to tell him her story from her own mouth. Antonio says that it's ironic that she wants to be honest after lying to him from the moment they met. He asks her if she agreed to be his girlfriend on purpose, as part of her revenge plan. Gabriela is genuinely shocked. She asks him what he means. He says that Helena and his father killed her father, tried to kill her and her brother, and stole her family's company. He adds that most people in the same position would want to get back the company and carry out their revenge. Gabriela asks him what that has to do with them. Antonio says that it has everything to do with them. He adds that making him believe that she loved him was going too far.
Meanwhile at Hernan and Adrianna's house,
Hernan had just arrived. He had wanted to give Adrianna time to herself so that she could process everything and cool down a little bit. He goes straight to their bedroom. Adrianna is sitting on their bed, reading a book. She doesn't even acknowledge his presence when he enters. He goes and stands near her but still, she ignores him. He puts the book she was reading aside. She then looks up at him. He asks her if they can talk. Adrianna says that it's not like she has a choice. She then moves as far away from him as possible.
He says that he knows that she feels hurt that he has been lying to her and he is sorry. Adrianna stands and then faces him. She says that a simple sorry won't do it. She says that she believes that Helena and Carlos might have something to do with what happened to them as well as what happened to their father, on top of stealing their father's company, but she has nothing to do with it. Hernan says that he doesn't blame her, and anyway, she was just a child when everything happened. Adrianna says that it doesn't seem like it. Hernan asks her what she means.
Adrianna says that him using her. Hernan is confused and asks her what she means. Adrianna says that now that everything was out in the air, there is no reason to keep on lying. She then stands up from the bed and tries to leave, but Hernan moves quickly and blocks her way before she can leave. He says that he really has no idea what she is talking about. Adrianna wipes away some tears and tells him to stop the lies and just finally say the truth. He says that if she wants him to answer anything, she has to tell him what she is talking about because he has no idea what she means. Adrianna takes a deep breath and says that he doesn't really love her and that to him she was just a means to an end, a tool for revenge. Hernan looks at her shocked.
Back at Antonio and Gabriela's house,
Gabriela tells Antonio that she would never use anyone like that, especially him. She says that she loves him too much. Antonio stares at her like he doesn't believe a word she says. Gabriela tells him that she wouldn't have agreed to be with him and have a child with him for revenge purposes. She adds that the love she has for him and the hate she has for his father are separate matters. Antonio tells her that it's a bit hard to believe her given the circumstances. Gabriela asks him what he means. Antonio says that he understands them having to go into hiding as children because Helena and his father would have tried to kill her and Hernan again.
He, however, adds that as soon as they were old enough and reached the city, they should have told the truth. He adds the fact that she dated him without telling him who she was, shows that getting revenge and the company were more important than their relationship. Gabriela says that it wasn't about her valuing revenge more than him. She says that things got more complicated. Antonio asks her if her brother came up with more sophisticated lies. Gabriela asks him what he is trying to get at. Antonio says that he knows her and her brother well enough to know that revenge was his idea and he got her to agree to it.
Gabriela glares at him and says that she is capable of making decisions for herself and that her brother didn't manipulate her. She then adds that as much as she loves him, she won't allow him to disrespect her brother. She then tells Antonio that she is done talking with him and tries to leave, but he holds her. Antonio tells her that he wants her to tell him anything else she has to, regarding that day's revelations.
Back at Hernan and Adrianna's house,
Hernan tells Adrianna that he really loves her and that he didn't pretend, to get revenge on her aunt. Adrianna adds that with everything happening, she doesn't believe him. Hernan says that if he was that kind of a person he would have gotten revenge on Aranza. Adrianna says that Aranza is his sister, and he wouldn't have done anything to her. She asks him if he did it because he felt that she and Antonio enjoyed the rights and privileges, which rightfully belonged to him and his sisters. Hernan runs his hand through his hair.
Adrianna could be difficult when she wanted to. He insists that he loves her and that he wasn't using her. Adrianna still doesn't look at him. Hernan says that things got complicated. He adds that things happened that they didn't see coming. Adrianna turns around and asks him what he means. She then adds that if there is anything else, he should tell her now and end all the lies. Hernan sighs and says that his father is alive. Adrianna is shocked and asks him how that is possible when they were both at his father's funeral. Hernan pauses then says that he will tell her everything.
Back at Antonio and Gabriela's house,
Gabriela tells him that there isn't much to say. She adds that like she said things got complicated. Antonio tells her to get to the point. He adds that he doesn't want any more secrets between them. Gabriela sighs, then says that her father is alive. Antonio stares at her wide-eyed and surprised. He says that is impossible. He reminds her that they both were at her father's funeral, all those years ago. Gabriela, says that she doesn't know what happened but maybe there was a mistake at the hospital or it was on purpose, but her father and one of the emergency medical technicians, got mixed up and the technician was declared missing, and her father was declared dead. Antonio asks her how sure she is that the man she thinks, is her father really is.
Gabriela says that his DNA matches her brother's. Antonio is shocked beyond words. He asks her where her father is. Gabriela says that he is in hospital. Antonio looks at her shocked. He asks her how long she has known that her father is alive. Gabriela says that she found out, one month before she gave birth. Antonio asks her why she would keep it a secret that her father is alive. He says that he is getting more and more confused. Gabriela says that all she knows is that her father survived the accident, and has spent the time since then in mental hospitals. She adds that it is John. Antonio says that he doesn't understand her. Gabriela says that from what they had been told, when he was found, he had amnesia, and so they named him John.
Back at Hernan and Adrianna's house,
Hernan pauses for a few seconds and Adrianna insists that she wants him to continue because she wants to know everything. He adds that his father lost his mind, two years after arriving at the hospital, and had minimal recovery for years. Adrianna asks him what made his father suddenly go crazy. Hernan says that he isn't sure. He says the time, his father lost his mind, was the time he and his sister went missing. He adds that some part of his father's mind, recognized him and his sister from the newspaper and he probably went crazy after seeing one of the newspaper articles about what happened to them.
Adrianna asks what happened next. Hernan pauses then says that the day, his father ran into Antonio and Gaby, was the turning point. He adds that his sister really looks like their grandmother did, at the same age, and their father must have recognized that. He then adds that his sister felt a need to help him without knowing the truth. He pauses then adds that Gaby begged him to go with her to visit him and he was hesitant at first, but decided to go, if not for anything to watch out for his sister. He adds that a bond developed between the three of them over the following months. He continues and says that shortly before his sister gave birth, she saw a tattoo on their father's arm of their mother's name, and showed him her butterfly tattoo.
Hernan then explains to Adrianna that the reason his sister got a butterfly tattoo was that their father nicknamed her butterfly when she was really young. Hernan adds that his sister let the matter rest until after she gave birth when they carried out a secret DNA test using his (Hernan) DNA samples and that of his father. She says that his father regained his sanity quite quickly, in the months after they met him, and remained stable. He further adds that the memories came in random infrequent pieces, and were not helpful.
Back at Antonio and house,
Antonio is still standing leaning on his desk. He asks Gabriela how much her father knows now. Gabriela says that their father knows everything. She adds that he knows that she, Hernan, and Aranza are his children, and they have also told him about Carlos and Helena. She adds that he was talking to Aranza some time ago, shortly after he remembered her and her brother's names, and Aranza told him their family history, and he began filling in the blanks. She adds that there was a risk that their father might relapse if he didn't have closure on what happened to her and her brother, so they told him who they were.
Antonio asks her when all this happened. Gabriela says it was around the time her brother got injured. He then asks her if Aranza knows that their father is alive. Gabriela says that she doesn't. She says that she would like to tell Aranza. Antonio says that's fine because she is their sister anyway. Antonio asks her if there is anything else. Gabriela thinks about it then says that's pretty much the summary of everything. Antonio doesn't know what to think. It is a lot to take in. He says that they could have told the truth as soon as they had found out about their father. Gabriela says that he was very sick, and Helena and his father would have tried to kill him.
Antonio says that she sacrificed too much and there was no guarantee her father would recover. Gabriela shoots daggers at Antonio with her eyes. She says that she never got over her father's accident and as a little girl, her greatest wish was to get another chance with him. She adds that when she found out he was alive, she knew that she had to do all she could to help him and get another chance with him. She says that she was separated from her father as a child and she wants her son and niece to have that experience growing up with him that she didn't have.
