EPISODE 59

 

Later in the evening, Anna Patricia, and Armando go to their parents' house. That was the day Clara had wanted for so long to avoid, to have to tell her son the truth, but it was there. It was time to face her demons.

 

Meanwhile, Aranza and Aurelio are at the park. She asks him, how he feels about what he has just learnt, and about Juan Patricio, given what he knows happened to his grandmother. Aurelio says he cannot respect a man who rapes a woman. Especially when that woman, took care of his sick and ailing grandfather. He says he is ashamed to be related to a beast, like Juan Patricio. He adds that the only good thing in all of this is that Antonio is his cousin.

 

Back at Ramon and Clara's house, Armando and Anna Patricia, stare at their mother in shock for a second, before they both come to comfort her. Armando asks her what happens next from here. Clara says that they wait for Juan Patricio to tell his family, and then they see what happens next. Anna Patricia, says that he will probably tell them lies and try to discredit her. Clara says she is definitely sure he will.

 

She then asks her mother if she named her Patricia because of Juan Patricio. Clara looks disgusted by the thought and says that she named her Anna after her own (Clara's) grandmother and Patricia after a priest called father Patricio who was the parish priest at the time she(Clara) was pregnant with her (Anna Patricia).

 

Armando reminds his sister that today is about him not her, and she should stop asking questions. Anna Patricia looks like she is about to reply with a comeback, but says nothing. Clara tells them not to start their petty arguments. She then looks into her son's eyes and holds his hands. He, says that no one can ever fully understand, the horror she must have gone through. Ramon says that not much will, change because he (Ramon) raised him and he loves him (Armando) and Aurelio very much.

 

Meanwhile, Aurelio looks at Aranza and says he can tell that she is about to say something insightful. Aranza rolls her eyes and holds his hands. She says that he should never forget that it was Ramon who raised his father and was there to give him (Aurelio) grandfatherly advice. Aranza then continues and says that she is sorry if she sounds crude but it takes more than DNA to be a parent or grandparent, and Juan Patricio is nothing more than a sperm donor.

 

She adds that another example would be how his mother and aunt love Hector and Gina so much and yet they share no blood while her own mother does not care about her. Aurelio gently strokes her face and says that even with everything going on, he doesn't like seeing her sad. He then leans in and kisses her and she kisses him back.

 

Later that evening, Antonio and Gina are walking near where she lives. He asks her where she will be when he is at his grandfather's house. Gina folds her hands, looks at him straight in the eye, and asks him why he is asking. Antonio knows fully well how stubborn she is. He knows that is her battle face. He says that he doesn't feel safe or comfortable with her being alone. Gina rolls her eyes and says that he is being melodramatic. She asks him what exactly he is afraid of. Antonio says between Horacio's craziness and his grandfather's threats, he thinks it isn't a good idea. Gina says that she understands his concerns, but that, that there isn't so much need for it.

 

Antonio looks at her like she is crazy and reminds her that, Horacio, is obsessed with her and his grandfather is unpredictable. He tries to reason with her. He holds up her chin for her to face him and says that he is just trying to keep her and their son safe. He adds that she is pregnant, and even without everything else that is going on, she would still need someone in the house, in case of an emergency. Gina looks like, she is about to argue, but says he has a point, that she can't stay alone while pregnant. She agrees to his request. Antonio says he will ask Aurelio and Aranza to keep her company until he is finished with the meeting.

 

Friday dawns bright and early,

Adrianna and Aranza are at the Montes De Alba mansion, getting ready for work. Aranza goes to Adrianna's room. Adrianna smiles at her cousin and says her royal nosiness has arrived. Aranza rolls her eyes and pokes Adrianna's arm. Aranza reminds her, that she still has not answered her about the baby's name. Adrianna tells her to sit and then admits, that neither she nor Hector have thought much about it. 

 

She then tells Aranza about the pact that Hector told her, he and Gina made. Aranza too thinks it is cute. Aranza stands, turns dramatically, and then says she will work with that and give suggestions. Adrianna says that she can imagine the horrors she will come up with. Aranza says she is the more creative cousin. Adrianna says that was debatable.

 

Sometime later, Emma and Gina are at work, at their desks. Emma asks Gina, what her suggestions are for names. Gina admits that so far neither she nor Antonio have thought much about it. Gina then tells Emma about the name pact she suggested to Hector when they were 18. Emma is intrigued and asks her if she is serious about following it. Gina admits she is not sure yet. Emma tells her, to consult her(Emma) if she decides to pick boy names that start with H because it is a tricky letter and she could end up picking a very plain archaic or boring name. Gina rolls her eyes but says she will.

 

Elsewhere, As Aurelio accompanies Antonio, to attend to some tasks, they ran into Helena and Carlos. Helena watches the two of them pass. Something is going in. What is it?

 

The rest of the day goes on uneventfully. At the end of the day, Antonio leaves with Aranza, Aurelio, and Adrianna for his house. Hector and Gina leave to meet up with their aunt and visit John, while Emma and Martin, leave for his house.

 

Antonio dreads the meeting, later that night. He knows that it is the beginning of, everyone's life getting more complicated. He fears his grandfather, will try to get near Clara again. His grandmother is sure will start fights with Clara.

 

At the mental hospital, Anna Patricia and Hector visit John as Gina goes to speak with the doctor. She asks him how he has observed John handling the changes so far. Dr. Alves says that so far, he is adjusting well and is happy. He adds that they need to get more insights into things like his skills, talent, personality, and intelligence, so this is still part of his treatment. Gina says that she fears that he might be overexerted and fatigued.

 

She adds that it's dangerous, given that his mental state is still very fragile, as he is still recovering from his long illness. Dr. Alves says that he understands her concerns but adds that she shouldn't worry because John does not have any heavy duties and rests on weekends.

 

Back at the hospital garden, John chats away happily to Anna Patricia and Hector.

 

Later, Antonio arrives at his grandparents' house at around 7:30 pm. His father and grandparents are already there. Antonio sighs, it is about to be one long night.

 

Meanwhile, Hector arrives at Antonio's house, to pick up Adrianna. As they have some juice, he is unable to resist rattling both his sisters. He tells Aurelio to babysit Aranza and to watch out for Gina's crazy plans. Aurelio fist pumps Hector and tells him that was a good one. Aranza pouts and says that she is not a baby, while Gina throws a pillow at him which he ducks. Adrianna looks at them and says that if the twins were around, things would, be like that. The three of them ( The twins and Aranza), like a family.

 

A little later, Juan Patricio, gets down to the business of the day. As his grandfather continues to utter each word, Antonio stares at him like a blank canvas, his blood boiling. Antonio calls him a fool inside his head and rolls his eyes. His grandmother and father meanwhile are totally shocked. Carlos looks at his son and asks Antonio, why he doesn't look surprised. Antonio looks at the three people looking at him. His grandfather looks at him half menacingly, his grandmother is too shaken to speak and his father looks at him suspiciously. Antonio shrugs casually at his father and says he knew about Clara, Armando, and Aurelio, but it was not his place to tell her and his father.

 

Juan Patricio says that once the dust has settled and people have cooled down, he wants to recognize his son and grandson. Claudia says his bastard family does not deserve public recognition. She asks him to think about what other high society people will think. She tells him to think about his place in society before bringing out his mistress. Antonio wakes up and starts to leave, and his father asks him where he is going. Claudia looks at Antonio and says he is probably running off to his country-girl girlfriend. Antonio shoots daggers at her with his eyes and says he has heard enough lies from his grandfather.

 

Juan Patricio warns him and tells him to shut up. Antonio asks him or else what will he do. Carlos joins the commotion. Claudia orders everyone to shut up. No one has ever heard her talk that loud. She glares at Carlos, and Juan Patricio, and tells them to both shut up. She turns to Antonio and says now that the truth is already out, she wants all the facts and sides of the story. Juan Patricio starts to talk, but Claudia asks him what he is afraid Antonio will reveal. Claudia asks him what other secrets he has to hide. She tells him that one way or the other, the secret will be revealed.

 

Elsewhere, Hector and Adrianna, are at his house. He asks her why she looks, so stressed and uneasy. She says she is worried about Antonio and how things could be going at his grandfather's house. He puts his arms around her and kisses her forehead. He says that Antonio is a Diaz, and can handle his family because whatever traits they have, a healthy dose of it runs in him.

 

Adrianna looks at him. He asks her if he has three eyes. Adrianna smiles and says that she was just wondering, how every day that passes, she found him reminding her more and more of Aranza because they are so similar. Hector's face turns momentarily pale before he catches himself. He adds to himself, that Aranza is like him and she is his little sister.
