EPISODE 44

 

Meanwhile, at the mental hospital, John is playing puzzles. He abruptly stops and asks himself when he will leave. He then says he wants to see his children.

Later that evening, Aranza knocks on Adrianna's door. When she opens it, she is surprised to see her in bed. Concerned, Aranza asks her how she feels. Adrianna says she feels a little tired, but she is okay. Aranza looks at her skeptically and sits on the bed. She then asks Adrianna if she is sure. Adrianna insists she is. She says she was just feeling dizzy and decided to lie down.

A little bit later, Gina and Emma are out walking, when Gina has a dizzy spell. Emma helps her. Emma asks her if there is something she should be telling her. Gina looks at her confused and asks her what she is talking about. Emma asks her when she had her last menstrual cycle. Gina looks at Emma wide-eyed and paces around. She says what Emma is suggesting is crazy. Emma says she understands Gina's fear, but they both know her being pregnant is a possibility. 

Gina continues pacing around, nervously. Emma puts one hand on her and says that Gina should relax, and do a pregnancy test. Gina tells Emma, she is afraid, she is pregnant. She adds that with everything happening if she is pregnant, this could not have happened at a worse time. Emma asks her if she is ready to know the truth. Gina says she needs some time, maybe a day or two. Emma hugs her.

Meanwhile, Adrianna runs out of bed, because she feels nauseous. Aranza follows her and helps her. When they are back in Adrianna's bed, Aranza tells her, that she thinks they should see a doctor. Adrianna says it is not necessary, and that she will feel better the following day. Aranza eyes her skeptically.

Juan Patricio wakes up early on Friday morning. Claudia asks him, where he is going. Juan Patricio says he has some, legal matters to take care of. Claudia asks him if it is something that should worry her. Juan Patricio says that it is just standard affairs but the lawyer, was only available that day.

Elsewhere, as Hector is preparing to go to work that morning, he receives a call. It is Aranza. He notices her worried tone. He asks her what is happening. Aranza says she is worried about Adrianna. Hector, worried, asks her, why. Aranza tells her that yesterday evening Adrianna was unwell, and she looked pale, ate very little, and was severally nauseous. Aranza adds that Adrianna was stubborn about it, and refused to see a doctor. Hector, tells her to not worry, because he will watch over Adrianna. Aranza cries and says that she loves her cousin and doesn't want anything to happen to her. Hector assures her that, he would look into the matter.

Later on, Emma and Gina are in the office garden. Gina tells Emma, that she has thought about it, and wants to do the pregnancy test and get rid of the fear and the doubt. Emma hugs her.

Meanwhile, Juan Patricio is at the office of Jorge Torres, a famous city private investigator. Juan Patricio states his case. He says that the woman in question (Anna Patricia) looks like somebody from his past, and he wants to find out if there is any connection between the two, and what that connection is. He says he wants to find out everything about the lady (Anna Patricia). 

Jorge asks Juan Patricio if he knows the woman's name. Juan Patricio says he does. He says her name, as shown on her name tag is Anna Patricia Ortiz. He then asks Juan Patricio for more details like where she works, which he tells him. Juan Patricio tells Jorge, to not worry about the cost, because he (Jorge) will be adequately compensated for his work.

At lunchtime, Hector, and Adrianna meet at the garden. He tells her that he talked to Aranza earlier in the morning. Adrianna rolls her eyes and says that Aranza is such a drama queen. She insists she is fine, and that there is no need to see a doctor. Hector looks at her like he does not believe a word she says. She says he looks just like Aranza when he looks at her disbelievingly. Hector says that it is not about him or Aranza, but about her. Adrianna says that she is fine; she was just a little tired. Hector touches her forehead, and Adrianna says she is just fine like he has seen. Hector, says that he will keep an eye on her. Adrianna rolls her eyes.

Later, Hector, Anna Patricia, and Gina go to visit John as usual. The doctor updates them on John's progress.

Elsewhere, Aranza has finished packing and is leaving for Clara and Ramon's as usual. She runs into Carlos and Helena and walks past them. Once Aranza has left, Helena exclaims, what a rude person Aranza is. Carlos says it is better Aranza leaves so that she can be less of a nuisance, and get out of their hair.

Later, Hector and Adrianna are at his house. He has gone to the loo, and she is alone in the dining room. She stands up, but feels dizzy, and sits back down. Hector comes back and finds her sitting, laying her head on a pillow. He rushes to her side. He tries, to help her stand up. She stands up quite well, but feels nauseous, and rushes to the washroom. Hector goes after her, but it's a false alarm, and she just splashes water on her face. Hector catches her by surprise, and carries her, despite her protests to his bed. He then sits her down and sits beside her. He places his hand on her forehead and says her temperature is perfectly normal. Adrianna says she is not sick. Hector, looks at her, for a few seconds, then carries, her again (ignores her protests).

He places her on the chair in the sitting room. Adrianna asks him what he is doing. He says he is taking her to a hospital. Adriana starts to argue and insists she is fine, but Hector says he will take her to the hospital, with or without her consent, because her health is more important. Adrianna folds her arms but makes no effort to stand up. Hector says he has to get his phone and the car keys and tells her to not try anything. Adrianna scoffs at him but says she won't do anything. When he is gone, Adrianna tells herself that Hector had that same determined look Aranza had when she had decided to do things, no matter what the other person thought.

Meanwhile, Antonio and Gina are at his house. Gina is in the loo, and takes the pills she had to control the nausea and splashes water on her face. 

Antonio meanwhile, is looking at a picture of his late mother, which, he placed in a central place in the living room. Gina comes and sits on the chair near him. He watches her for a few seconds. Gina asks him what is wrong. He says some things don't add up and do not make sense. Gina asks him what he means. Antonio says he finds it strange, that while she loved her father, she has no picture of him. Gina's face momentarily goes white. She says she doesn't want to talk about her father. Gina then says to herself that, the web of lies is only getting more complex. Antonio asks himself as he has done so often, what secret Gina is hiding, that she is not telling him.

Elsewhere, Martin is sitting on a chair, in his sitting room. Emma had gone to the kitchen. He thinks, about his mother, and her constantly visiting John. Emma comes and finds him deep in his thoughts, and asks him what he was thinking about. He says he was thinking about his mother and her constantly, visiting John. Martin insists that the more time passes the more he thinks, his mother, visiting John is a bad idea. He adds that his mother is stubborn and will never listen to anyone once she has set her mind on doing something. Emma says she gets his point, but he should relax, about it, because his mother is strong and can handle things no matter what.

Meanwhile, Hector and Adrianna have arrived at the hospital. She asks him if he has told anyone they are there. Hector says he has not, because he would rather tell them the complete, story, instead of worrying them unnecessarily with incomplete stories. Adrianna says it's the best thing to do. She asks him not to tell anyone until the doctor has seen her. Hector agrees to her request. The doctor calls her name, and Hector asks her if she wants him to go with her or she is fine by herself. Adrianna says that she wants to go by herself. Hector waits for her patiently.

Meanwhile, Juan Patricio is in his study. He goes over his visit to the private investigator, earlier that day. He has to find out who the lady, Anna Patricia Ortiz is, and why she greatly resembles her. Juan Patricio has flashbacks from the past. He remembers her. In the image, she, a trained nurse has come to check on his grandfather. She is very beautiful. Oh, how he wanted her from day one, but she always scorned him. He wonders out (to himself) where she is now, after so many years.

Sometime later, the doctor, Dr. Susana Velez, had listened to Adrianna's descriptions of her symptoms and carried out tests. Adrianna looks at her fearfully. The doctor tells her that there is nothing to worry about because she is not sick. Adrianna asks her what then is the problem. The doctor says that what she was experiencing were pregnancy symptoms. Adrianna is shocked. She is pregnant. She runs her hands through her hair. She says to herself that the pregnancy could not have come at a worse time. Adrianna says that things are already complicated, with Marianna's pregnancy. Dr. Velez says that she will give her some tablets to control nausea but she should be fine.

Sometime later, Adrianna has already gotten her medicine and she is with Hector in the car. He asks her, to finally tell him what the doctor told her. Adrianna looks around and then looks down. Hector holds up her chin and turns her to face him, and tells her that whatever it is, he will love her regardless, and they will get through it together. Adrianna says she is not sick. Hector looks at her skeptically and then asks her what the tablets were for. 

Adrianna pauses and then says that she is pregnant. She then starts crying. Hector tries to touch her arm. She recoils and says she knows that the pregnancy has come at the wrong time, with Marianna's pregnancy and everything else that has happened. Hector, says that as difficult as things are, they will raise the child together, and he will never abandon her because he loves her. He then leans in and kisses her.

Saturday dawns bright and early. Gina has woken up and is in the kitchen. She remembers her conversation with Emma. Could she really be pregnant? She then says to herself, that falling pregnant right now, with the chaos, and lies, and before she and her brother reveal themselves, would complicate things even more. Gina adds that she is afraid of bringing another person into the world amid lies, and of her child not being born into their birthright. Hearing her name being called, she turns to see Antonio. He walks near her and looks at her. He asks her if she is fine. She says she is and tries to walk but she feels like fainting, so he holds her. Antonio carries her to the nearby seat. He gets her some water. 

Gina takes a few sips then puts it down. She says she has to prepare, herself because she has to go visit John with Hector and Anna Patricia.

Antonio says she should not go today because she is unwell. Gina however stubbornly insists that she has to go and visit John, and feeling a little down won't stop her. Antonio is irritated with the situation. Why can't Gina be a little less stubborn, sometimes? He tries reasoning, with her, but still, she insists. Frustrated, he lashes out and asks her what is going on, with John. Gina tells him to stop being so inconsiderate and weird. She says that she sees John, as a father, and wants to help him because his accident happened around the same time her father died.

Antonio reminds her that while it is nice, that she wants to help him, he is not her father, and she should remember that because she seems to be having difficulty doing so, and creating an unhealthy bond with him. Gina rolls her eyes and tells him to stop overreacting. Antonio, however, is not done and says that she is growing overly attached to him and that affection might turn into love. Gina stands up and glares at him, and says what he is saying is ridiculous, and is nothing more than a jealousy-infused tantrum. She starts to walk away but Antonio stops her and holds up her chin. Gina glares at him, with defiant eyes. She wants to argue with him but suffers another dizzy spell. Worried, he carries her to the nearby couch and then helps her. Antonio then takes her phone which was on a nearby stool and starts to scroll. Gina asks him, what he is doing.

He says he is looking for the doctor's number, to tell him that she is unwell and won't be able to come that day because she is being unreasonable. Gina wakes up and tells him he is being bossy and unreasonable. He sarcastically asks her if she is waiting to be bedridden before she decides not to go. Antonio puts her phone in the pocket and starts to walk away. Gina walks past him and asks him what he is doing. He says she is being unreasonable and so he will keep her phone, for a few hours. She folds her hands and glares at him, like she is about to argue but, goes and sits down. Antonio turns around to face her. She says that she will go to the nearby clinic. He says he will take her and she does not protest.
