EPISODE 164

Elsewhere,

At Hernan and Adrianna's house,

Hernan is sitting, on the couch dejected. It had been a long day that ended worse than anyone could have expected. He cannot stop thinking about his sister. He thinks about the times he has had with his sister over the years. Yes, like most siblings they argued, but they had some good times as well. They have always had each other's back and been each other's biggest fan. The only person who has been by his side literally since the beginning of his life has been Gabriela.

He closes his eyes and silently prays for the protection of both Gabriela and Hannibal. Adrianna watches him but doesn't move. She lets him finish praying first. When he does, she moves towards him. She sits near him. He wipes away a few tears and says that he is worried about his sister and nephew and pissed that he can't do anything. Adrianna, says that they should remain positive and trust that Gabriela and Hannibal will be fine.

Back where Gabriela and Hannibal are being held,

Gabriela is trying her best to keep her son occupied and to shield him from the danger that they are facing. She is in the middle of telling him a story when they hear some movement at the door. Hannibal gets scared and moves closer to Gabriela. She puts an arm protectively around her son. The door is finally opened and Horacio comes in followed by two armed guards. He looks around the room then settles his eyes on Hannibal. He looks at the child with pure disgust. Hannibal is Antonio's son. The child looks so much like Antonio, who almost always dresses the two of them to look similar.

Horacio sits on the chair and tells Gabriela that he would like to talk to her. Gabriela says that she doesn't have a choice, so he might as well talk. Horacio looks at Hannibal. He says that he would rather do it alone. Gabriela watches him look at her son. She feels disgusted. She says that if anyone should leave it is his henchmen. Horacio smiles at her in an evil suggestive manner. Gabriela stares at him like he was trash. Horacio says that his associates will leave, but they will be completely alone because her son is also leaving. Gabriela says that her son will stay with her. Horacio looks at his associates and then gives them a signal.

They move forward and pick up a now crying Hannibal, who is now kicking and screaming. He calls out mommy, mommy, mommy, and Gabriela feels like her heart will break into a thousand pieces. She stands to go to her son but one of Horacio's henchmen, pushes her back, rather roughly. She tries again, and again she is pushed. Horacio stands and yells at Hannibal to shut up. The child continues crying. Horacio glares at Hannibal and tells him that if he doesn't keep quiet he will hurt his mother. Hannibal slowly quietens. Horacio tells his henchmen, to take Hannibal away. Once they have gone, Gabriela, with barely contained fury tells him to get to the point.

Back in Antonio's hospital room,

Antonio asks his grandmother to bring Gabriela to come and see him. Claudia tells him to rest and be calm. Antonio asks her how he can be calm and relaxed when he hasn't heard from Gabriela or seen her. Claudia says that he will hear from her soon but for now he should relax. Antonio asks his grandmother, what happened earlier. Claudia exclaims to herself that Antonio couldn't remember. Antonio tells her not to lie to him. He says that he is in pain in the hospital, he has injuries, and he has memories of his gunshots, so something happened.

He then looks at his grandmother worriedly and asks her if Gabriela, Hannibal, or anyone else got hurt. Claudia says that a few people were shot, including him and his aunt Luisa, but Gabriela and Hannibal were not among them. Antonio asks him if his cousin, Rosa is fine. Claudia says that when Luisa was shot, she was carrying her daughter, but other than, a few scratches, the child is fine. Antonio tells his grandmother that he wants to see Gabriela. Claudia doesn't know what to do.

Antonio calls her grandma, and she looks at him. He asks her about Gabriela. Claudia takes a deep breath and tells him that Horacio kidnapped Gabriela and Hannibal. Antonio is shocked into silence then he starts to try to get up. He says that he has to rescue Gabriela and Hannibal. Claudia tells him that she knows, but he is in no condition to do anything. Claudia assures him that Gabriela and Hannibal are being looked for. He starts to cry and she hugs him.

Back where Gabriela and Hannibal are being kept,

Horacio tries to move closer, to Gabriela, but she recoils. She says that he is garbage and evil for shooting innocent people, including Antonio and Luisa. Horacio gives her a nonchalant, I don't care look. He says that none of those people, even Hannibal matter. He says that it is only her and him and their happiness that matters. Gabriela looks at him like he is crazy. She says that her happiness lies by Antonio and Hannibal's side. Horacio says that they can begin a new life and be happy together. Gabriela sighs. Horacio is crazy. Gabriela says that all she wants for now is to see her son. Horacio says that won't be possible.

Gabriela full of fear asks him what he did to her son. Horacio smirks and asks her why she thinks that he is such a monster. He adds that Hannibal is fine. He continues and tells her not to worry about the child because he will have a good life. Gabriela asks him what he means. Horacio, says that he will eventually release the child back to Antonio and her family. He adds that they will have many other children and she won't need to remember that 'stupid' lookalike of Antonio. Gabriela folds and unfolds her hands to keep herself from losing her temper. Horacio says that he will release that little brat in the coming days and then they can begin their new life together without excess baggage.

A week and some days pass. While the injured continue to get better, no progress is made on finding Gabriela and Hannibal. Antonio and Luisa are released from the hospital, to go recover at home.

It is a Wednesday,

At Antonio's house,

He is in the dining room. He unenthusiastically cuts a piece of egg and eats it. His grandmother comes bringing more food then sits near him. He tells her that he is old enough to take care of himself. Claudia frowns at him. She says that she is not going anywhere until he has recovered from the gunshot wounds. She adds that he may be twenty-eight but she is still his grandmother and she will take care of him because he is unwell. Antonio sips a glass of juice.

He says to himself that he cannot win an argument against his grandmother. Claudia tells Antonio that, he should save his energy instead of wasting it arguing with her. Antonio shakes his head. His grandmother is truly one of a kind. Just then there is a knock on the door. Antonio tries to get up and open it, and Claudia glares at him. She pats his head, as she did when he was a child, and says that he should rest because she is there to take care of everything.

At the secret location, where Hannibal and Gabriela have been held,

Everything seems normal. The place is as secure as ever. Unknown to them, an ambush is about to happen. An unknown/unseen person watches the property, where Hannibal and Gabriela are, through binoculars. Meanwhile, they are in separate rooms. Gabriela is sitting on the chair in her tiny room, whiling the time away. She needs to be strong for her son.

Elsewhere,

Gabriel is at the Montes De Alba Mansion. As the days passed since Gabriela and Hannibal were kidnapped, he has been feeling more and more unwell. He was in his bed resting when there is a knock on the door. He tells the other person that they can come in. It is Aranza. Gabriel smiles at his youngest daughter. Ever since Gabriela and Hannibal were kidnapped, she had never left his side. She had always visited him every day. Aranza, comes greets him, hugs him, and then sits near him.

She asks him if he is fine. Gabriel says that he is stressed because her sister has been kidnapped, but otherwise, he is fine. Aranza folds her hands and looks at her father unconvinced. Gabriel sits up straighter, stretches out his hand, and holds his daughter's hands. He tells her that he will be well. He says that he has so much to live for. Aranza tells him that she just realised something and that is why she is worried. Gabriel asks her why she is worried. She says that the time he got sick and lost his sanity was around the same time, Hernan and Gabriela went missing.

Back at Antonio's house,

Claudia has brought Luisa, Clara, and Rosa Milagros into the dining room. Claudia asks to carry Rosa Milagros, then looks at Luisa and tells her that she is always welcome to visit, but she should be resting so that she can fully recover quickly. Clara tells Luisa that she told her so. She then adds that she just had to come to make sure that she was okay. Luisa says that she feels fine and she just had to come and talk to Antonio. Antonio looks at her concerned, and calling her aunt, asks her if everything is fine. Luisa tells him to relax.

She adds that there is just something that she wanted to discuss privately with him. Claudia, still carrying Rosa, tells Clara to follow her into the kitchen. She adds that they can get some refreshments and head to Antonio's study. She then asks Antonio if that's okay with him. Antonio says that he doesn't mind. After they leave, Antonio asks Luisa, what she wanted to talk to him about. She says that she wanted them to talk about his mother, Rosa Isela. Antonio is shocked. He asks Luisa if she knew his mother. Luisa says that she did.

She then pauses and says that his mother was her cousin. Antonio is so shocked, he doesn't know what to say. Antonio says that there are so many things that he doesn't understand and that don't make sense. He continues and says that for instance, he doesn't understand why she has never mentioned anything about it. Luisa says that she found out about it, a few months back and no time quite seemed to be the right time to tell him the truth. She then adds that after the shooting, she realised that she couldn't waste any more time and she should just tell him. Antonio asks her why he never knew about her.

Meanwhile,

Marianna, is in the kitchen, trying out a new recipe, she found online, when her phone rings. It's Martin. She shakes her head and takes a deep breath. She then picks up the phone. After greeting her, he asks her, how she is. Marianna says that she is fine and insists that he shouldn't worry. Martin says that he cannot help but worry about her especially after what happened to Gabriela. Marianna says that she understands his fears and knows that until Alejandro and Isabella are caught, they aren't safe, but she is fine. Martin asks her if she needs anything because of the pregnancy. Marianna says that for the moment, she is fine.

Back at the Montes De Alba mansion,

Gabriel says that he hasn't ever thought about it. Aranza says that maybe he saw a picture in the newspapers of the story, and even though he couldn't remember Hernan or Gabriela, something just snapped. Gabriel says that it is possible and it would explain, him suddenly going insane, but she shouldn't worry. He says that he will take care of himself and he will put his health first. Aranza says that even if, he loves the twins very much and there is no telling what will happen, the longer Gabriela remains missing. Gabriel asks Aranza if there is something else that is bothering her. Aranza says that she is fine. Gabriel doesn't believe her.

He thinks about it and asks her if she is jealous of her older siblings. Aranza says that she isn't. Gabriel asks her even a little bit. Aranza folds her arms and thinks about it. She says maybe a little bit, but she understands. Gabriel asks her what she is talking about. Aranza says that she understands that he loves the twins more than her because he loved their mother much more than he loved hers. Gabriel is shocked that his daughter feels that way. He puts her smaller hands into his larger calloused ones. He adds that he loves her very much as well.

He adds that of all his three children, she is the one who is most like him, and that will always keep them close. He then asks her why she would think that he loved her less. Aranza says that she thought that he loved her less because he saw her as physical evidence of his biggest mistake. Gabriel says that while marrying her mother was a mistake because Helena is evil and has hurt many people, she is not a mistake. He adds that she and her siblings are the greatest joys of his life. Aranza wipes away her tears and asks her father if she will be like her mother. Gabriel tells her that she is not her mother and she won't repeat her mistakes. When Aranza wipes away more tears that threatened to fall, he hugs her.

Back to Antonio's house,

Luisa says that it's one of those family feuds that leads to people breaking off ties. She continues and says that at the time, both she and his mother were children and didn't understand why all of a sudden, they never saw each other again and why asking about each other was forbidden. Antonio asks her if she tried searching for his mother, later on, as an adult. Luisa adds that unfortunately, she didn't. She adds that she can't say, why she didn't, but she just didn't. Antonio asks her if she knew what the feud was about.

Luisa says that his maternal grandfather and her father, who were brothers, had a bad fallout, which was worsened by them fighting over their late father's money, which wasn't that much anyway. Antonio was shocked. He then says that so many years had passed and his mother and two grandfathers all died, so it no longer matters, what should have happened or what should have been done. He adds that what matters is that, he, her, Aurelio, Rosa, and Hannibal are alive, to create a new family bond, which is void of any old wounds. Luisa stands up and hugs him.

Much later,

Back at the place where Hannibal and Gabriela are being kept,

Gabriela and her son are being taken around the highly secure compound, for their daily ritual walk. It is the only time of the day, they can be together. It is also, the only time, they leave their rooms. The walk itself lasts for about twenty minutes followed by about forty minutes where they are allowed to sit in the garden. So far, the day has been like any other. On the other side of the estate, the gate is opened for some supplies to be offloaded, when suddenly gunshots and a scream are heard. There is an ambush. One by one, gunmen come out and rush towards the estate, catching everyone off guard. An alarm rings.
