Back at Marianna's house,
Marianna manages to free herself from Martin. He doesn't try to hold her again. Martin reminds her that she can still get herself out of the problems her friends are involved in. Before Marianna can react, there is a knock on the door. Martin goes to open it and is irritated to see that it is Alejandro. Alejandro ignores him and walks past him, to Marianna. Martin follows him. Alejandro says that he can see what she has been up to. Marianna asks him what he wants.
Alejandro says that he is there to confirm that she is a traitor and that she is having an affair with Martin. Marianna tells him that she owes him no explanations, and says that both of them (Alejandro and Martin) should leave. Alejandro asks Martin what he is doing there. Martin tells Alejandro that whether he likes it or not Marianna is still a part of their family and there is a child involved. Alejandro tells Martin that he has no business with Marianna or his daughter.
Martin says that the child will always be treated like a part of the family regardless of not being Hector's daughter. Alejandro says that he wouldn't expect anything else from a family that takes in strays. Martin clenches his hands and then punches Alejandro. He tells him that was for disrespecting his (Martin's) family and his (Alejandro's) daughter. Alejandro winces and calling Martin boy, tells him that he doesn't know who he is messing with because he will pay.
Martin tells Alejandro that if he disrespects his family including Diana, he will pay. Marianna looks at Martin after he says that. Before she can reply, Alejandro says that they will sue for custody of their daughter. Martin looks at Alejandro first then at Marianna (for longer). He says that somebody would have to be crazy to give them back their daughter. He says that they don't deserve to raise that angel (Diana). Alejandro says that Diana is their daughter and they will get her back. Martin says that they never even loved her.
Back at Antonio's house,
Antonio is stunned after what Aranza just told him. He looks at her and asks her if she believes John. Aranza says that she doesn't know what to believe because he could be saying the truth but because of his medical history he could also be mixing up facts. Antonio asks her how she sees John's state of mind after visiting him for years. Aranza says that she finds him very sane.
Antonio tells himself that it bothers him that Gina would tell a stranger such personal things no matter how little when she wouldn't tell him anything. Aranza asks him if he feels jealous because Gina told somebody else and not him, all that. Antonio looks at her shocked. Aranza shrugs and says that she is smart. Antonio smiles but says nothing. Aranza says that she understands that it bothers him that Gina didn't tell him anything.
She adds that he feels like Gina doesn't trust him, and adds that he should try and be patient with her. She then hugs him. Aranza then asks Antonio if he will tell Gina about what he knows. Antonio says he will but first, he has to see what his grandmother wants to talk to him about first. Aranza says she doesn't understand what one issue has to do with the other.
Antonio says that his grandmother is mysterious and unpredictable, and he doesn't know whether she wants to talk to him because she misses him, she wants to stir up trouble or she has something important to say.
Aranza rolls her eyes but agrees that his grandmother is unpredictable, and he should finish with whatever it is she wants before, talking to Gina. Antonio then asks her to keep everything a secret and let him deal with it. Aranza agrees.
At Marianna's house,
Martin says that they will work to ensure that neither of them gets the child. Marianna tells Martin that he is bossy and should keep out of her affairs. Martin narrows his eyes and glares at her. He then adds that his cousin is recovering from the attack, and he is representing him in personal affairs. Marianna says (to herself) that she doesn't understand why Martin would lie about why he is there.
Alejandro looks at both of them and then particularly at Martin. He tells Martin that he knows that he is only using his cousin's injuries to get closer to Marianna. Martin looks irritated at both of them. He then says that he doesn't really care whether they have a relationship or not, he is just interested in his cousin and niece.
Meanwhile in Hector's room,
Adrianna has just arrived to visit him. He is sitting in an upright position. He asks her how she and the girls are. Adrianna says they are fine, and that they are with his grandmother at his Aunt Luisa's house. Adrianna is standing near him. Hector is surprised and says that it's too much for her to take care of a newborn and two three-year-olds. Adrianna says that she thought so too, but his grandmother insisted and said that she will take care of them both.
Adrianna said that she even insisted on going for them from their playgroup. Hector smiles. He says that his grandmother is stubborn. Adrianna asks him how he feels. Hector says that he is much better but he still feels bad about not being able to walk and not being able to do anything to help his family. Adrianna holds his hands to comfort him. She tells him that they all miss him but they need him to recover first. Hector leans in to kiss her and she kisses him back.
The next day on Wednesday,
At Antonio's house, he is in his room. He remembers what Aranza told him the previous day about Gina's past. He runs his hand through his hair. He says to himself that he doesn't know what to do about Gina's secrecy because it is getting too much for him to handle. What else doesn't he know about her? He asks himself why she doesn't trust him after everything they have been through. Just then Gina comes into the room. She can sense that something is going on with Antonio but he wouldn't tell her anything. She asks him again if he is okay.
Antonio says that he was just thinking about his grandmother and her mysterious nature. He adds that he has a feeling she is about to drop a bombshell on him. Gina's face grows momentarily pale. Antonio is quick enough to notice that. He tells himself that soon enough he will know the secrets she is hiding about her past. Gina asks him why he thinks so. Antonio says that he knows his grandmother very well. Gina sighs inwardly and says that soon it will be her turn to tell him something big that will change everyone's lives.
Sometime later, at Hector's hospital room,
Hector is looking around deep in his own thoughts when Marianna comes into the room. He frowns when he sees it is her knowing that the conversation won't be pleasant. She smiles and asks him if he was expecting his silly little bookworm. Hector tells her to leave because she doesn't have anything to do there. Marianna sarcastically asks him if there is anything wrong with her visiting her husband.
Hector says that he doesn't want anything to do with her and that he will work on getting a divorce and getting temporary custody of Diana as things are sorted out. Marianna struts around and then she says that she will never let him and Adrianna raise her daughter. She adds that she will sue him for custody and will never grant him a divorce so that he can go to Adrianna.
Hector reminds her that she drugged Adrianna and Gina, and participated in the switching of the babies. He adds that she has no maternal bone in her body and they are alone so she doesn't need to keep up her act. Marianna rolls her eyes and says that he will not get rid, of her that easily. She says that she isn't here to talk about them.
Meanwhile, at Isabella's house,
She is meeting up with Alejandro and Horacio. Alejandro requested the secret meeting, which Marianna wasn't told about as a matter of an emergency. Isabella tells him to finally tell them the emergency that made him get them all there. Alejandro says that they should be even warier of Marianna because of Martin. He adds that he went to her house yesterday, and Martin was there. Horacio and Isabella are both a little shocked.
Horacio asks Alejandro what Martin said he was doing there. Alejandro says that Martin said that he was representing Hector in matters to do with his marriage to Marianna and with Diana. He adds that Martin also said that Marianna was still part of his family whether he (Alejandro) liked it or not. Alejandro also adds that Marianna didn't say much about it, but mostly argued with both of them and told them to leave.
Isabella says that luckily Marianna doesn't know about Emma, because if that came out they would be finished forever. Horacio reminds them both that Marianna knows about the drugging and baby switching and she could talk despite being involved because of her feelings for Martin. He adds that Martin could sweet talk her about making amends and at least saving face in front of her daughter, and Marianna being as soft as she has always been could fall for it.
Back in Hector's hospital room,
He glares at Marianna and asks her what she wants. Marianna asks him what he hoped to achieve by asking his cousin to speak to her. Hector says that it's in her best interests, to help them because then maybe she can get a plea bargain, and more importantly, she can at least make her daughter proud when she is old enough to understand all that is happening. Marianna glares at Hector, then tells him that he must think that she is stupid and weak to fall for such emotional manipulation. Hector asks her if her so-called friends are worth life in prison for.
Marianna tells him that he is just as crazy as his cousin and that they are both wasting their time. Hector looks at her and says he doesn't think that she was involved in Emma's murder, and tells her that she can get a lesser sentence because she wasn't involved with the more serious charge, but only if she stops lying to the authorities and lets her friends face the full force of the law. Marianna tells Hector that he and Martin should stop bothering her and leaves. Hector smiles to himself and says that soon enough everything will be as it should be.
Back at Isabella's house,
They are still discussing what to do about Marianna. Alejandro says that they should continue with their plans to frustrate Antonio and Gina, and Hector and Adrianna's relationships before Marianna gets soft and speaks to Hector or Martin. Horacio adds that they should sit her down once and for all and have a serious discussion about everything. He adds that they should consider scaring her a bit if necessary.
Alejandro and Isabella are a little surprised. Alejandro asks Horacio what he means by scaring her a little. Horacio tells them to relax. He says that he wasn't suggesting telling Marianna they killed Emma because that would make Marianna know too much, and make things worse should she ever decide to talk. He adds that he thinks that they should work with what they have, and discuss that further. Isabella and Alejandro agree.
Meanwhile at Luisa and Armando's house,
Clara is there to visit her granddaughter, Rosa Milagros. Luisa notices her mother-in-law is quieter than usual, and a little distant and asks her about it. Clara says that she was just thinking about the twins. Luisa asks why. She says that from what Anna Patricia has been telling her, their father has remembered quite a lot and it is only a matter of time before everything comes out, and Adrianna, Antonio, and Aranza know everything. She adds that they will be hurt. Luisa agrees and says that things are about to get a little worse before they get better.
Meanwhile, John is in his room resting. He is on leave for two weeks. He says that the thought of not doing anything productive, for that long, coupled with everything else going on around is driving him crazy. Of course, no one apart from his doctor (at the hospital) knows who he is. He says that he wishes he could just reveal himself and tell his daughter who he is, put an end to all the secrets and get on with his life. He then says that more than anything else he wants to find out what happened to his twins.
Elsewhere at Montes De Alba Inc.,
Aurelio is having lunch with Aranza. He asks her if she is still worried about John. Aranza says that she is. She adds that she knows very little, and that bothers her. She says that neither John nor his aunt nor Hector and Gina are telling her anything about John's family and what he remembers. Aurelio holds her hand. He tells her to relax. He says that things have to be done in a planned manner.
He adds that they just can't take John on the doorstep of people he hasn't seen in nearly twenty-two years because it won't be easy for either of them to accept each other and adjust. He says that given that amount of time, they won't recognize each other anyway. Aranza says she understands all that but she doesn't like that they are treating her like a child.
She adds that regardless, she wants to know what is going on because John is like the father she never had. Aurelio says that soon enough she will know everything. Aranza says that she is also a little afraid of what happens once John's identity is revealed and he is reunited with his real family. She says that she is afraid they won't like her, Gina, Hector, or his Aunt Anna or even worse he will forget all of them.
Aurelio tells her to take it all one step at a time. He adds that John sounds like a nice person and he won't just cut them off because of other people. Aranza asks him what if his family, poisons his mind against them. Aurelio holds her hands and tells her that things will work out for the best. Aranza nods.
