EPISODE 69

 

A little while later, at Hector's house, he tells Adrianna that he will pass by Antonio's house because everyone will be there. He adds that he will go to Marianna's to visit Diana after that. Adrianna asks him why Aurelio won't be going. She says that she doesn't like it when he is so secretive. Hector says to himself that, he forgot that Adrianna was so sharp. She says that she can't believe why after being together for months, he doesn't trust her with whatever it is that's bothering him. Hector really wants to tell her, but knows he can't, especially now that things are getting very complicated.

 

Adrianna says that everyone, even in a relationship deserves some degree of privacy, but there's a difference between that and plain keeping secrets and lying. Hector knows he has to diffuse the situation fast, but how? He tries to touch her, but she recoils and continues looking up at him expectantly. He tries to assure her, that it's just a normal gathering. Adrianna is sure there's much more, but she knows that she won't get much more from Hector at the moment, so she drops the argument. She says that eventually, they will have to discuss whatever it is that's going on. She then walks out of the room. Hector sighs and lies on the bed.

 

Meanwhile, Martin also tells Emma. She asks him how long it will be. He says that he's not sure, but it shouldn't last too long, more than a few hours, maybe three or four. She says it's fine. He says he loves her.

 

Three days later on Saturday,

In the morning, Antonio tells Gina, that he will run a few errands in the morning, then pass by to greet Adrianna before heading out to visit Isabella and their son. Gina asks him if he might pass by to see his grandmother. Antonio says he can't visit Isabella and his grandmother on the same day because they will drive him crazy. Gina apologises. Antonio asks her what she has to apologize for. Gina says that she feels guilty because she's the reason he doesn't get along with his grandmother.

 

Antonio moves closer to her and holds up her face with one hand so that she can face him. He says that he loves her and that whatever problems there exist between him and his grandmother exist because she is set in her ways, prejudiced, and loves controlling his life. He adds that even if she were not in the picture, he would still have conflicts with his grandmother. He kisses her forehead and she lays her head on his chest and he wraps one hand around her.

 

Elsewhere, at Hector and Adrianna's house. She tells him that Antonio will pass by, before going to Isabella's to see their son. He frowns then says that reminds him that, he has to visit Marianna as well. Adrianna says that she understands how difficult everything is, but it's for the children. She then adds that despite all of this, the children are sisters and she'd want them to be close. Hector kisses her forehead and says she's right. He then says that it's his turn to go and change the baby's diapers and leaves.

 

Elsewhere, at Aurelio and Aranza's house. He is sitting in the sitting room, lost in his own thoughts when she comes into the room. She asks him what's wrong. He says he just has a feeling the rest of the family is discussing important things and they are treating him like a baby as usual and keeping things from him. Aranza says that no one understands how that feels more than her because Antonio and Adrianna would do it to her often. She says that they shouldn't worry about whatever it is too much. She adds that if it's something they are meant to know, it will come to light. Aurelio says that she is not only nosy, but she is also actually a deep thinker. She rolls her eyes at him and throws a pillow at him. He smiles at her.

 

At Antonio's house,

Most of the Ortiz family is in the sitting room. Gina had given the house help an off day. Clara moves her eyes from, Hector, to Gina to Martin. Hector smiles at her, but she continues to stare at them. Clara calls them my children and asks, them what they have done. Armando tells her to let them be, and that soon enough they will know the truth.

 

 Meanwhile, Antonio passes by to see Adrianna first. The thought of spending a whole day with Isabella is terrifying. He can't go and join his grandmother at the country club either. She drives him just as crazy as Isabella does, probably even more, because she has known him all his life. Antonio shares with Adrianna his concerns about Gina and how secretive she is about her real family and childhood.

 

Back at Antonio's house.

Gina shows them the picture and explains what happened, the last time, she went to visit John. To say they are all shocked was an understatement. Martin then tells them his theory of Carlos and Helena either threatening or bribing someone at the morgue, to declare Gabriel dead, in place of one of the emergency medical technicians. He adds that this would leave the twins vulnerable and unprotected. Gina glares at Martin and reminds him that she doesn't like the name the twins.

 

She adds that it's because it makes her feel like she is only somebody because she and her brother come as a pair and that she isn't unique as an individual. Hector rolls his eyes and calls Gina a drama queen. Gina glares her eyes at her brother and says that is new coming from the person, who loves competing with her. Hector says it is she who is obsessed with outshining him. Armando, in a deep voice, tells them both to keep quiet. He says that they are discussing important matters and that the two of them should stop arguing like children.

 

Back at Hector's house, Adrianna watches Antonio. She says she understands how he feels with all the secrecy, Gina has, because Hector has it too. Antonio says that despite Gina trying to avoid talking of her past, he can occasionally see glimpses of hurt, and gets the feeling something painful happened during her childhood. He says that what hurts him the most, is that she doesn't trust him enough to open up to him. Adrianna stands and hugs him. She says that she feels the same way about Hector as well. Antonio says that sometimes he thinks about just dropping that subject.

 

He adds that it's not like it has a direct impact on their relationship and they aren't really making progress on it. Adrianna is surprised, but she says that she sees his point. She then changes the topic and says that they should do something fun because he is going to see Isabella, and visiting that witch is draining and he will need the energy. Isabella calls Antonio. He frowns and then says it's as if they summoned her. Adrianna says she is probably calling to complain and ask him why he hasn't arrived. Antonio then picks up Isabella's call. As expected she reminds him that he has to go and visit his son. Antonio says he hasn't forgotten, he just had to pass by and visit Adrianna.

 

Isabella complains and says he is more interested in Gina and her son, and visiting Adrianna and her daughter, than her (Isabella's) son. Antonio says that as much as he would want to spend the whole day with her, Adrianna is his best friend and that she too had just given birth and he had to visit her as well. Adrianna is surprised when he says that. She loves Antonio like he was her brother and they had been close since they were children, but she is humbled that he considers her his best friend. Isabella tells him to stop the sarcasm. Antonio tells her not to worry because he would never abandon his son.

 

Back at Antonio's house,

Luisa, says they need to find a way of getting a secret DNA sample. Clara says that either Anna Patricia or Hector will have to do it because Gina still has to rest and cannot visit John. Ramon says that they should do it as soon as possible, to eliminate the doubt. Martin says that it's best to first go, and survey the room, so they can see what item to take the sample from and how to go about it. Armando says that in case the test results are false, not much will change. He then says that if the results are positive, that will change their lives and priorities.

 

Hector admits they haven't really thought that far. Luisa adds that if he is their father, his recovery becomes their first priority and not the company. She also adds they also have to factor in their sister, because at the end of the day, they have to get their family back together and Aranza deserves to have a relationship with their father as well. Clara wipes away a tear and Armando asks her if she is fine. Clara waves away her son's concern. She says that she wasn't crying but she feels sad. Gina asks her why.

 

She says that as much as she's happy for the two of them because deep in her heart she is sure that John really is their father, she feels sad that they will forget them. Both Gina and Hector look appalled, at the idea. Gina says that would never happen. She says that they (the whole family) took them in when they (Hector and Gina) were at their weakest and most helpless, despite the risk if Helena and Carlos had found them, and despite the cost of two extra mouths to feed. Hector adds that they will forever be grateful for everything, they have done for them, and will always consider them as family.

 

Elsewhere, Adrianna tells Antonio that she is humbled that he considers her his best friend. Antonio shrugs and says that sometimes lies are necessary and she is quite annoying anyway. Adrianna pretends to be annoyed and throws a pillow at him and he laughs. Antonio then becomes serious. He thanks her. He says he needed that because Isabella and his grandmother are driving him crazy.
