EPISODE 27

 

Meanwhile, Antonio and Gina have just arrived at his grandmother's house. They are shown into the sitting room. His grandparents come soon after. Claudia looks at Gina. Antonio makes the introductions. They proceed to the dining room. Claudia asks Gina questions, about her life, and childhood. Gina tells her the same story, they have been repeating since they started living with the Ortiz's. Juan Patricio finds Gina familiar but cannot quite put a finger on it. What is it about her? There is something about her that puts him on edge. Claudia watches Gina and listens clearly to her answers. Claudia (to herself) says that for someone who grew up in a small town, she has a sort of sophisticated way about her. Still, Gina does not have the kind of family background and breeding she wanted for Antonio. Who knows where she came from?

Back at the police station's detention facility, Mauricio sits in his cell and vows to make Aurelio pay for this humiliation. He thinks of Aranza and says he will make her pay as well, for rejecting him.

On Friday morning,

At the mental institution. John is better, his mental state is improving but he has made no progress in remembering anything. Dr. Alves, tells a senior nurse (who had worked at the first facility for years and was familiar with most of the 10 patients including John) that without finding the young woman, they couldn't make any progress in understanding the patient's reaction to her and his subsequent mental recovery.

At Montes De Alba inc,

Adrianna goes to look for Hector. She wants to talk to him and they go to the garden. He asks her what's happening. She asks him why he did not tell her that Alejandro asked to see him the previous day. He tenses and says, that there's not much to say. Adrianna says she wants to know what happened between them. He doesn't want to tell her because he knows how she gets because of Alejandro, but Adrianna looks determined. She has that same determined face, that resilience, that stubbornness that Aranza and Helena have. Reluctantly, Hector agrees and says that Alejandro was using the fact that Carlos and her aunt, were not there to bother him, then tells her how the exchange went.

Meanwhile,

Antonio, who is in the parking bay, receives a call. It's Claudia, his grandmother. He hesitates and then picks up. After, the niceties, she said that she wanted to talk to him about Gina. Antonio tenses and then asks her what exactly about Gina, she wants to talk about. Claudia tells him to relax because she is not a witch. Antonio rolls his eyes. Claudia says she thinks Gina is a good girl, very intelligent and well-mannered but she is still not good enough for him. Claudia says she is not from a good background. She asks him what kind of family she and her cousin came from before the Ortiz's adopted them. Claudia pauses for a second and then continues. She adds that he has no idea what kind of family line Gina came from. Antonio has begun to get angry, but reins in his temper.

Meanwhile,

Adrianna is shocked. Hector goes and wraps his arm around her. She says that Alejandro continues to get worse and crazier. She adds that was what she was afraid of. She says that she is complicated and it was that mess that she didn't want to put anyone in. Hector holds up her chin and says that she is worth it and he would battle Alejandro or anyone for her. He then kisses her and she kisses him back. Alejandro sees them and seethes even more.

Meanwhile,

Antonio listens impatiently as his grandmother continues to go on and on, on why Gina is not the right woman for him. When Antonio thinks she is done ranting, he says now it's her turn to listen. He says that for the first time in his life, he knows what true love, is, to care about somebody else as much as or more than he cares about himself. Claudia says that love can be learned and that he can learn to love someone from his own status like Isabella. 

She adds that he once loved Isabella and can learn to love her again. Antonio says that what he had with Isabella was to pass time in campus. He adds that while Gina is not from a distinguished family, she is kind, lively, and beautiful and most of all highly intelligent and he loves her. Claudia asks him what people from their social circle would think if they saw them together. Antonio says he doesn't care what people think and adds that Gina makes him happy.

Meanwhile, at the mental institution, John's situation continues to surprise and shock people. Dr. Alves examines him and then goes over the files of the past few days. He (to himself) asks why after meeting with the young woman (Gina), his sanity seems to be improving, but there has been no improvement in him towards remembering his earlier memories. What is it about her?

Sometime after,

Antonio is at his desk. Why did his grandmother have to call him? She has just dampened his mood with her judgmental comments.

Meanwhile,

Isabella sees a number, she doesn't know, call her. Initially, she ignores it, but the person calls again. Isabella says (to herself), that someone seems to be so eager, to talk to her and out of curiosity decides to pick it up. She is surprised. It is Claudia Diaz, Antonio's grandmother. She wants to set up a meeting. Isabella agrees, and they set one for the next day. She says that this meeting might be fruitful, and she definitely must go.

With, Hector, Antonio, Aurelio and Martin going to watch football, the girls (Gina, Adrianna, Aranza and Emma) are to go to Hector, Gina and Aurelio's house for the night. Aranza still shaken from being drugged in the club decides to join them.

Meanwhile, back at the police station, Mauricio is in his cell still angry at having to spend the weekend there. He begins plotting how he will get back at Aurelio and Aranza.

At the end of the day, the girls leave together and pass by the mall. While walking towards one of their favorite stores, they ran into a man in his late twenties. He greets them and introduces himself as Roberto Solis and says he is a nurse and emergency medical technician. He produces his work Identity card from his pocket, as proof, and says he was on duty when (motions towards Gina) and somebody else (Antonio) ran into a patient of theirs named John on a certain day.

He adds that it was by chance that he ran into them, but it is important, he talks to Gina about the patient. Gina looks at the others, and Adrianna, says they will wait for her at a nearby restaurant. Roberto says they might take some time, but it is important, for the patient's sake. Adrianna tells them to take their time. Gina ignores Emma and Aranza's curious stares; she knows there will be questions later.

Meanwhile, Marianna and Isabella are at the mall as well. Marianna sees Gina and Roberto at the restaurant and shows Isabella. Gina can't, however, see her. Isabella smiles and takes her phone out of her bag. Roberto asks her about her interactions with John before he was found again. She tells him. Gina asks him how John is. He says John has made no progress in remembering, anything about his earlier life, or people he knew but, he has made great progress in regaining his sanity. Roberto asks her if she would come and visit him, so the team, at the facility, can see his reaction to her as part of their treatment of John. 

Gina says she wouldn't want to have any disagreements with his family because it won't be good for John. Roberto says that in the 17 years John has been there, no one has visited him. Gina is shocked; John has been in the mental institution for 17 years? She asks Roberto how it's possible that for so long, no one has visited him. She also asks him what he knows about the circumstances under which John was found. He tells her about the condition John was found in years ago. He tells her about the injuries John sustained some 17 and a half to 18 years ago, which damaged his nerves and caused the amnesia, he has had since. Roberto adds that from his colleagues, assessment, John likely was involved in an accident of some sort, some 17 and a half years ago. 

He adds that John then must have spent some time being treated for his physical injuries before he was abandoned, escaped, released, or something along that line, then he wandered before he was found and taken to the institute. Roberto then continues and says one year after John arrived, he was reading a newspaper, and then he just lost control of his mental faculties soon after and he has been in that state since. Gina asks why John was taken to a mental institution if he had amnesia and memory loss and was still mentally stable. Roberto says he has no idea, but guesses; he was probably unkempt, shaggy, and maybe delirious and was probably viewed as a threat to public safety. 

He adds that in that state and with the injuries he had, people might have assumed he was crazy. Roberto admits that there was also a lot of negligence. Gina asks Roberto why he thinks John reacted the way he did to her. He says it's highly likely; she resembles somebody he knew, most likely a family member. Roberto asks her if she has blood relatives. Gina is surprised. He says that they would at some point want to see John's reaction to people related to her. Gina pauses and says her parents died when she was young but she and her cousin were adopted by a nice family. He tells her sorry for her loss. Gina says she is okay. She says she will work on convincing her cousin.

Sometime later,

The guys are at a high-end pub, enjoying drinks and the game.

Gina is back with Adrianna, Aranza, and Emma. She can see the curious looks on their faces. Emma says they are waiting for the scoop. Gina summarizes the conversation for them. She then asks Adrianna what she thinks. Adrianna says they probably, want to test if he can coordinate memories, and relate the family connection between her (Gina) and Hector.
