EPISODE 170

 

Time flies quickly, as three years pass. During this time, Marianna is released from prison to go and complete the rest of her sentence doing community service. Martin is there with Santiago and Claudia. 

Despite initial fear and self-doubt, Hernan does a good job leading the company. His sisters, Adrianna, Aurelio, Antonio, and Martin are there to help him. Montes De Alba Inc. grows from strength to strength. Life is good. 

During all this time, Helena and Carlos have been kept separate from each other. They have had no contact with each other and have no idea how the other is doing.

In Helena's prison cell,

She is in solitary confinement. She says to herself that no matter how long it takes, she will escape and make the lives of the twins and those around them a living hell. She says that even if it's the last thing she does, she will do it. She adds that she will hit them, where it hurts the most. She adds that she will target their children.

Days pass,

It is a normal day like any other. Gabriela is in her office (which used to be Carlos's office). She is working on her laptop. Just then, there is a knock on her door. She tells the other person that they can come in. It's Adrianna. She looks worried. Gabriela quickly walks over to her and asks her what the problem is. Adrianna then says to herself that Gabriela must not have heard. Gabriela again asks her what happened. Adrianna says one of the worst things that could happen. She adds that Helena escaped from jail.

Gabriela puts a hand over her chest and gasps. Adrianna says that if her aunt escaped after so many years, it can only be to take revenge on them. Gabriela runs a hand through her hair. She says that Hannibal and Gisela are going on a school trip. Adrianna says that she isn't sure that they should even let them go. Gabriela says that she too doesn't have a good feeling about it. Just then, there is a knock on the door. Hernan and Aranza come in. Hernan is holding a blue file. They look from Gabriela to Adrianna. Hernan places the file on his sister's desk and asks them what is going on.

Gabriela says that Helena escaped from jail. Hernan and Aranza are both shocked. Hernan asks about Carlos. Adrianna says that she doesn't know yet. She adds that everything has just happened and there is very little information. Gabriela says that what scares her the most is that Hannibal and Gisela are going on a school trip in four days. Hernan says that Helena is crazy and they can expect anything from her. Aranza asks Adrianna if they will let the children go on the school trip. Adrianna shrugs and says that she isn't sure.

Elsewhere,

Deep in a remote forest, Helena is seen in a shabby abandoned building. She is under disguise. She cleans a gun with a cloth then blows into it. She smirks then says to herself that it is time.

Four days later, on a Thursday,

Hannibal and Gisela Paulina are on a school bus, with the rest of their classmates. They are going on a field trip. The journey has been smooth so far. Unknown to them, they have been followed from the city. They are passing through a deserted road when the worst happens. The bus is ambushed. Armed gunmen appear and begin shooting at the bus. Most of them are aiming at the tyres. The children are terrified and begin screaming.

The driver tries to go past the blockade of armed men, but the bullets greatly damage the school bus and he quickly comes to a halt. Three of the armed men enter the school bus. One of them shoots the driver and another shouts at the children to keep quiet or else they will be next. Slowly the children quieten. The three men go through the bus looking at the children. They reach the back of the bus. There are two girls and two boys sitting opposite each other.

The attacker, who hadn't spoken, looks at each of the four children then calls out two. Using their full names, he calls out Hannibal Miguel Diaz and Gisela Paulina Montes De Alba. They then take the two children and begin escorting them out at gunpoint. Their terrified classmates and teachers look on helplessly. Gisela calls out to Dianna, who begins crying. Hannibal also calls out to Ricardo. One of the gunmen threatens Gisela and Hannibal that if they don't keep quiet, he will harm their friends. Both children keep quiet.

Sometime later,

Gabriel enters his daughter's office. Gabriela has just found out some of the scariest news ever and was still processing it. Gabriel folds his hands and looks at Gabriela. He asks her what happened. He can see that she looks sad and overwhelmed. Gabriela, barely able to keep herself together tells her father that she received a call from Hannibal's school. She adds that they said that Hannibal and Gisela were kidnapped, at gunpoint, during the school trip. Gabriel is shocked.

He asks her about the other children, the driver, and the teachers. Gabriela says that by now, the bus has been towed away. She adds that the driver is in the hospital with gunshot wounds but thankfully, no one else was hurt. Gabriela starts crying and says that if anything happens to Hannibal she won't be able to take it. Gabriel moves closer to her and hugs her. He tells her that they will do all they can to find Hannibal and Gisela.

Elsewhere,

Hernan is in his office. He is working on his laptop. He takes a break and sips water from his water bottle. It is a beautiful metallic bottle that has the face of Gisela engraved on it. Just then, Adrianna comes barging in. One look at her and he knows that something is terribly wrong. He goes over to her and asks her what happened. She says that Hannibal and Gisela were kidnapped. Hernan is shocked. 

Adrianna says that she is sure Helena is behind it. Hernan runs a hand through his hair. He says it's her way of making him and his sister suffer. Adrianna wipes tears from her face. She says that Helena is crazy and she will try and harm the children. Hernan hugs her and kisses her forehead. Naturally, because of who Hernan and Gabriela were, the story of what happened to their children spreads.

Elsewhere,

At the community center, 

Marianna is sitting in the director's office. She asks herself, why she is there. She puts a hand to one of her cheeks and asks herself with worry if she is in trouble. The director of the youth center comes in and greets her. Marianna is still tense with fear that she is in trouble. The director, a nice friendly lady in her forties senses it and tells Marianna to relax and that she isn't in trouble. Marianna relaxes then asks her why she is there. The director tells her that there has been a tragedy. Marianna looks at her wide-eyed and asks her what happened.

The director says that her daughter's school bus was shot at and hijacked by masked gunmen. Marianna takes a deep breath and her face full of worry asks how the children are. The director says that most of the children are unharmed, though they are traumatized from the whole ordeal. Marianna, still fearfully asks the director what she means by most of the children. The director says that Hernan and Gabriela's children were kidnapped. Marianna says to herself that Helena was most likely behind the kidnapping and she was doing it to torture the twins.

The director tells Marianna that she can come back on Monday. Marianna is shocked. She says that it's only Wednesday. The director looks at her watch and says that the day is almost over anyway. She adds that she is also a mother and she knows that she (Marianna) has to be there for her daughter after the horrific ordeal she just went through. Marianna says thank you. The director tells Marianna that there are always provisions for compassionate leave, whenever something occurs because life happens. She then tells Marianna that she will however have to fill a form first. Marianna says that she will. She just wants to see Dianna.

Sometime later,

At the police station,

Antonio and Gabriela are in a waiting room. Antonio looks like he would rather be anywhere else but near her. Gabriela tells him that the children's kidnapping is devastating and now more than ever they need to be strong and together. She adds that he looks like there is something else bothering him apart from that. For the first time, since they came, he looks at her. He says that it is ironic of her to remember, that they should be together when earlier she forgot and disrespected him. Gabriela looks at him blankly. What is Antonio talking about? She says that she doesn't know what he means.

Antonio frowns at her then says that she was supposed to tell him about their son's kidnapping first before telling her father. Gabriela frowns at him and tells him to stop being so childish. She adds that what matters is that the children are found safe and sound. Antonio tells her that she doesn't understand. Gabriela says that she doesn't see what the big deal is. Antonio says that he is Hannibal's father and he is supposed to know everything concerning their son before anyone else. He adds that her telling her father first about their son's kidnapping is very disrespectful and inconsiderate of his position. Gabriela moves closer to him. She says that she is sorry.

Elsewhere, at a secret hidden location in the forest,

Hannibal and Gisela Paulina are in a locked room. Outside the locked room, there are two armed men, guarding the children. Gisela has been crying. Hannibal hugs her and tells her that very soon they will be back home.

Meanwhile, in a separate room of the colorfully decorated abandoned building, Helena is sitting in a chair with a gun in her hand. She looks at the table in front of her. There are four pictures. They are of Hernan, Gabriela, Hannibal, and Gisela Paulina. She runs her hands through the pictures of Hernan and Gabriela and says that she will get rid of them, even if it is the last thing she does.

Shortly after,

Marianna has arrived at Claudia's house. Her grandfather, Martin, and Claudia are with Dianna in her room. Dianna has been crying a lot since the accident, but she had begun calming down in the past few minutes. When Dianna sees Marianna she shouts mommy and runs towards her and hugs her. Claudia, Martin, and Santiago all look at Marianna. After a little while, Santiago calls out Marianna. She looks up at her grandfather. He looks at her sternly and asks her why she isn't at the center. Marianna says that she was given a two-day break to be with Dianna, and she will return on Monday. Marianna hugs her daughter again.
