EPISODE 180 - (THE END)

 

Elsewhere,

In Gabriela's office,

Antonio and Gabriela are having lunch together. She says that there was something that he said when they were talking to Hernan that she wanted to ask him more about. Antonio asks Gabriela what it is about. Gabriela says that when he was talking about how close Claudia has become to Aranza and Marianna, he said that his grandmother finally got what she wanted, which was granddaughters.

Antonio shrugs. He says that sometimes as a child he felt that his grandmother was disappointed with him because she would have preferred a granddaughter. He adds that he felt that she would have preferred to have daughters and granddaughters. Gabriela says that despite the problems, his grandmother loves him. Antonio smiles and says that he does love and appreciate her as well.

Back in Hernan's office,

Aranza looks at her cousin. Adrianna sighs and says that she was a little hurt when she chose Marianna instead of her to help with the wedding dress. Adrianna then adds that given that she seems to be growing closer to Marianna since they all moved to Claudia's house, she felt like she was being replaced by Marianna. Aranza moves near her cousin. She hugs her. Aranza tells Adrianna that she loves her very much and that no one will ever take her spot. She adds that she has become closer to Marianna, since moving into Claudia's house, but that doesn't mean that Marianna will replace her. Aranza then asks that who else will overreact and become paranoid. Adrianna shakes her head and hugs her cousin.

Days pass during which Marianna and Martin's engagement is made official. Martin also officially asks Marianna's grandfather for her hand in marriage.

On a Saturday, morning,

Martin and Marianna, are standing, a few houses down from where Claudia's house is. Claudia had asked to meet them there. No matter, how much they asked her to tell them what she wanted to talk to them about, she wouldn't say a word. Their children, Dianna and Diego, were visiting their aunt Renata and were away for the weekend. Marianna looks around, then looks at Martin. She says that she still can't understand why Claudia wants them to meet near that house. Martin says that he doesn't either.

He says that the only certain thing is that she will drop a bombshell on them. 

Just then, they hear someone approach them. It is Claudia and she is walking. Marianna asks her if she is fine. Claudia waves her way. She says that she may be old but a little walking won't kill her. She then looks at Martin and Marianna who are both confused by what is going on. She smiles and tells them to calm down. She says that she isn't an ogre. She removes a key from a handbag and hands it over to Martin. He looks at her confused and asks her what the key is for. Claudia smiles and says that the key is for the house (points to the house behind them). 

Claudia looks from Martin to Marianna and says that it's theirs. Naturally, they are both shocked. Marianna says that they appreciate everything, she has done for them, but the house is too much. Claudia shrugs and smiles. She says that it's her wedding present to them. Martin says that he wouldn't want it to seem like they are taking advantage of her kindness. Claudia says that they aren't. She adds that the current arrangement, works for the moment but eventually they will need their own space, just as Aranza and Aurelio will. Martin says that they aren't sure what to say. 

Claudia looks at them both and says that she loves them both. She tells Marianna that she is like the granddaughter, she always wanted. Marianna smiles. She then goes and hugs Claudia and thanks her. Claudia says now, they will have their own space but still be near Aranza and Aurelio, so they can maintain closeness and their children can grow up together. Claudia then frowns at Martin and tells him to come as well. Martin smiles then joins the embrace. He then thanks Claudia for everything, she has done for them.

Five weeks pass by and the day of Aurelio and Aranza and Martin and Marianna's joint wedding reaches. The church is full of their family and friends, there to witness their big day. The wedding march starts and everyone stands and looks at the back. The brides have arrived. Aurelio and Martin stand nervously at the front. First Aranza walks in with her father, Gabriel. Next is Marianna. She is being walked down the aisle, by her grandfather, Santiago. He looks at her and smiles. Marianna smiles back at him. Santiago couldn't be happier. The fact that he is alive and healthy and is walking his youngest grandchild down the aisle is a miracle. Gabriel smiles at his daughter and she smiles back. He says to himself that he is blessed to be able to attend all his children's weddings. 

During the wedding reception, Martin and Aurelio do something unexpected. First they call Gabriel, Santiago, Marianna and Aranza ( who are all surprised as they had no idea what was happening) to the side. Martin walks over to Santiago ( Marianna's grandfather) and tells him that he deserves to have the first dance with his granddaughter on her wedding since he missed most of her life. Aurelio tells Gabriel the same thing about Aranza. Clara and Ramon look at each other and smile. Ramon says that they raised gentlemen. Clara looks at her grandsons and says that they truly did. Both Santiago and Gabriel are touched at the gesture. Gabriel hugs Aranza and Santiago hugs Marianna. There is then a flashback of Aurelio telling Martin about the plan to surprise the girls on the day of the wedding. Martin loves the idea and is immediately for it.  It is a beautiful wedding and everyone is happy.

One year later,

Aranza and Aurelio are in a hospital examination room. This is her first check-up, since learning that she was pregnant. Aranza and Aurelio both watch quietly, as the procedure is carried out. Aranza then asks the doctor how her pregnancy is going on. The doctor looks at Aranza and Aurelio and says that both children are fine. They both look at the doctor in surprise. What is she talking about?

Aurelio asks the doctor what she means by both children. The doctor points towards the machine's screen and says that they are expecting twins. Aurelio and Aranza stare at each other shocked. They were expecting twins? Aranza asks the doctor if she is sure. The doctor nods. She then tells Aranza that given that her older siblings are twins, the gene of having twins seems to be present from her father's side of the family.

Over the next few days, they tell their family and friends. Everyone is genuinely happy for them. Gabriel seems a little worried though.

Aranza goes to the mansion to speak to her father.

In his study,

Aranza asks her father why he doesn't seem excited by the news that she is expecting twins. Gabriel says that he is excited and can't wait to meet his two new grandchildren. Aranza looks at her father doubtfully. Gabriel smiles. He then gets serious. He says that because Rebecca died after giving birth to the twins, he is scared of her developing complications as well. He adds that he is afraid of losing her. Aranza says oh and smiles.

She then goes and hugs him. She then tells him that the best she can do is take care of herself and pray. She adds that the rest is upto God. Gabriel tells her that he loves her. Aranza hugs him and says that she loves him too. 

As time passes, Aranza's pregnancy progresses smoothly and all her family and friends are there for her. Seven months later, she gives birth to two lovely girls whom she and Aurelio name after their grandmothers (Belen and Clara). Clara naturally is thrilled to have someone named after her.

Epilogue

After Marianna completes her sentence, Hernan asks her what her plans are. She talks with Martin about it. Marianna eventually goes back to work at Montes De Alba inc. 

Several years later,

Hernan and Gabriela are now seventy years old. They are walking through, the forest where, sixty-two years earlier, Helena abandoned them as children. It was a tradition, they began soon after they turned thirty-five. Every year after that, to commemorate the one event that changed the course of their lives forever, they went together to the forest, around the same time. Their lives begin flashing before their eyes in quick succession. Gabriela holds on more tightly to her walking stick.

She tells her brother that despite everything, they have been blessed and they have lived fulfilling lives. Hernan says that indeed they have been blessed. He adds that they survived and got their lives back together. Gabriela says that the fact that they are alive to spend time with their children and grandchildren is a miracle. Hernan agrees that it is. He then smiles and says that he is still the cleverer and more successful twin. Gabriela folds her hands and glares at her brother.

She tells him that unlike most people he hasn't matured. She says that he is old but still annoying. They then hear movement behind them and turn. It is their father, Aranza and Ramona. Gabriel asks Hernan and Gabriela if they have been fighting again. Gabriela glares at her brother. She then tells her father that Hernan started it. Hernan frowns at her. He says that she is a pain as usual. Aranza and Ramona look at each other and smile. 

Ramona says that she and Aranza are the most mature in the family.

Hernan says that he can see whose bad example she has been following. Aranza moves forward and pinches Hernan and he winces. Gabriel shakes his head. He smiles and says to himself that it is a gift to be alive at ninety-five. He remembers all the times they have had together and with the wider family. He then looks at his children, who are still arguing. Gabriel then says that after everything he went through, he enjoys every part of the miracle of being alive, even his children's squabbles.

EPISODE 179

 

Back at the community centre,

Marianna has been in the waiting room for a few minutes. She checks the time on her phone and frowns. She says that either whoever came to see her has no sense of time or she is being pranked. She stands and goes and opens the door. She looks around and sees nobody. She frowns. She then goes back into the waiting room. She picks up her phone. Her wallpaper is her grandfather carrying Diego. She smiles and then scrolls through the phone. She then takes her purse and turns to leave. She is shocked to see Martin. He gets inside and locks the door. Marianna places her phone and purse down and then runs and hugs him.

She then looks at him and asks if everything is okay. Martin smiles and tells her to relax. Marianna releases him and then frowns at him. She says that it's strange for him to be there at that time unless something bad happened. Martin says that nothing is wrong and he hasn't come to tell her bad news or to take her to deal with a problem. Marianna visibly relaxes. Martin adds that he is there for a different reason. Marianna asks him what he is talking about. Marianna watches Martin reach out into his pocket. She stares at him surprised, as he gets down on one knee. Her eyes get moist and she wipes a few loose tears off her face.

He says that they didn't meet under the best circumstances and she came into his life like a hurricane. He adds that many people may not understand how or why he could love her after what happened in the past. He adds that honestly, neither does he sometimes. Marianna smiles. He says that all that he knows is that he loves her and he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. He also says that he would like them to continue building a brighter future for themselves and their family.

There is a flashback of them over the years, from their many arguments to Marianna kissing him, to warn him to leave her alone. There is also a flashback of when Martin kissed her, when she taunted him, to the beginning of them softening towards each other. Finally, there is a flashback of the growth and development of their love story. Calling her, his storm, then her full name (Marianna Holguain Peralta), he asks her to marry him. Marianna wipes the tears away from her face. She then says yes. Martin stands and hugs and kisses her. He then carries her.

Back in Hernan's office,

Gabriela asks Hernan what he did. Hernan frowns at her. He says that none of it makes any sense. He adds that he hasn't given Adrianna any reason to be jealous or insecure. Gabriela says maybe they argued or fought. Hernan says that it isn't that either. He adds that they haven't disagreed recently. Antonio says that the problem isn't with him. Hernan asks him what he is talking about. Antonio says that Adrianna is jealous because Aranza asked Marianna to help her with her wedding dress. Hernan and Gabriela both look at Antonio confused.

He tells them that Adrianna and Aranza have always been very close and so Adrianna feels a little betrayed that Aranza would ask someone else to do something like that. Antonio then looks at Gabriela and says that Adrianna would have understood if it was her (Gabriela) because she is Aranza's sister, but with Marianna it is different. Hernan says that thinking of it, things started to change after Martin told them about Aranza's suggestion that he should propose so that they could get married on the same day.

Antonio says that it might seem like a little pettiness over a wedding dress but it goes deeper than that. Hernan asks him what he is talking about. Antonio says that things began with his grandmother asking Martin to move in with his children to her house and Aurelio and Aranza moving in to help Martin with the children. He adds that his grandmother and Marianna had begun developing a bond because they fulfilled a need in each other. He adds that his grandmother loved Marianna like she was her granddaughter and got closer to Aranza too, seeing her as a granddaughter as well.

He says that with his grandmother deciding to give the house to Aurelio and Aranza and them later moving in to help with the children, the three of them (Claudia, Aranza, and Marianna) began bonding. He also says it was like his grandmother got something she had always wanted, granddaughters. He adds that Adrianna has probably been feeling left out for a while and the wedding dress was the last straw.

Back at the community centre,

Marianna looks a little distracted and Martin asks her what's going on. Marianna says that she was just thinking about things. Martin asks like what for example. She adds that planning a wedding will be tricky between her community service sentence, taking care of the children, and helping Aranza. Martin says that they will manage. Marianna frowns at him and says that she doesn't expect him to be of much help on that front. Martin smiles and tells her that she doesn't have to worry about anything. Marianna frowns at him and asks him why she shouldn't be worried about the wedding and planning it.

She adds that they need to decide on a rough date, so they know how much time they have and what they can do. Martin says that Aranza will help them. Marianna says that they can't stress Aranza and Aurelio because right now they have their wedding to plan. Martin says that they will get married together with them. Marianna looks at Martin like he is crazy. She says that she wouldn't feel right asking Aranza about it. Martin says that they don't have to because she offered. Marianna is stunned. Martin says that everyone else except her knows about it. He adds that he talked to Hernan and Adrianna and Antonio and Gabriela about it and they are all okay.

Marianna asks Martin if Aranza asking her for help with choosing the wedding dress was part of the plan. Martin says that only Aranza knows that. He adds that probably Aranza chose her because of her fantastic sense of style. Marianna smiles and tells Martin that Aranza said that when she was asking her for help with the dress. She then adds that maybe she was just flattering her to get her to agree. Martin says that she wasn't. He then tells Marianna that she always looks fantastic. Martin then kisses her and she kisses him back. He then tells her that he loves her. Marianna says that she loves him too.

Back in Hernan's office,

Hernan says he now understands everything more clearly, but he still can't figure out why despite how close Aranza has become with Marianna, she would choose her over her cousin or sister. Gabriela says it's quite simple. She adds that the one thing Marianna has never been bad at even before she changed was fashion.

Both Hernan and Antonio are a little surprised. Hernan looks at his sister, not convinced. He says that Aranza chose Marianna because of her sense of style. Gabriela nods. She says that every bride wants to look stunning on her wedding day. She adds that it isn't surprising that Aranza would choose the most stylish person she knows for help. Antonio says that Aranza should talk to Adrianna, so everything can be cleared up and Adrianna can be at peace.

The next day on Wednesday,

At around lunchtime,

Adrianna opens the door to Hernan's office. She is surprised to see Aranza there. She asks her where Hernan is. Aranza says that he went for lunch. Adrianna frowns. Aranza asks her what's wrong. Adrianna says that Hernan had insisted that they meet. She then tries to call Hernan but can't reach him. Adrianna then looks at Aranza and asks her what she is doing in her brother's office at lunchtime. Aranza smiles. Adrianna asks Aranza if she and Hernan are upto something.

Aranza says not really. She adds that Hernan wanted them to talk in peace and in private. Adrianna asks Aranza what's going on. Aranza tells Adrianna that she should be the one telling her. Adrianna looks at Aranza sternly. Aranza asks her if she is jealous of Marianna. Adrianna is caught off-guard with that question. She asks Aranza where that question came from. Aranza shrugs and says that's neither here nor there. She then asks her if she felt that she was becoming closer to Marianna than her.

Adrianna asks her if Hernan and Antonio have talked to her. Aranza says that at that moment, what matters most is her and not Hernan and Antonio. Adrianna asks Aranza why she would think that she was jealous of Marianna. Aranza says that it's because she has become very close to Marianna and because she chose her to help with her wedding dress. Adrianna remains quiet. She then says to herself that Antonio knows her very well and Hernan must have gone to him.

Episode 178

 

Back at Hernan and Adrianna's house,

Hernan says that he was concerned because she seemed lost, deep in her thoughts. Adrianna shrugs and says that she is fine. She then moves away from Hernan. He, however, follows her. He quickly, reaches her and stretches one hand, and holds one of her arms. She turns and looks at him. He tells her that they are a team and that he will always be there for her. Adrianna looks at Hernan and says that she knows that. She insists that she is fine. They stare into each other's eyes.

Hernan then releases her hand and traces a finger down her face. He then kisses her and she kisses him back. After a few minutes, Hernan releases her. He then holds her hand as they go to their room. As soon as the door is locked, Hernan moves near Adrianna. He places one hand at her waist. He then places the other on her face. He then uses it to trace a line down her face. They then continue kissing each other. After some time, he again releases her and gently carries her onto the bed. They slowly begin to undress, as they continue kissing each other.

Back at Martin and Marianna's quarters,

Marianna is in the kitchen when Martin comes back. She is drinking a glass of juice. When she hears the door open, she leaves the kitchen. They see each other. Marianna then turns to go towards their bedroom, but Martin calls her. She turns and walks towards him. Martin starts by apologizing. He says he knows that it's a bit late, but walking refreshes him and clears his mind. Marianna says that it's not a problem. She adds that for the past few days, he seems to have had a lot to think about. Martin asks her why she hasn't said anything.

Marianna says that she didn't want to bother him or stress him more. Martin holds up Marianna's face so that, she could look at him. He tells her that he loves her and he would like her to be more comfortable around him. He adds that he would also like her to feel free enough to tell him anything. Marianna says that she will work on it. Martin says that he would like to tell her something. Marianna asks him what it is. Martin admits that he overheard her on the phone earlier. Marianna is shocked and afraid. She asks Martin why he didn't remain in the house.

Martin says that he needed time to think over it and he also wanted to give her and her cousin time to finish their conversation. Marianna asks him how he knew she was talking to Renata. Martin says that her cousin is the only person she would tell such personal thoughts and fears. Marianna says that's true. She then apologises to Martin and asks him if he is angry at what she said. Martin says that he isn't. He adds that he can't be angry because she was true and honest. 

He also adds that he is a little disappointed and hurt that she didn't feel she could trust him enough to tell him how she felt. Marianna apologises again. Martin says that it's fine. He adds that she doesn't have anything to worry about. He adds that things are much better and the twins will be okay when he decides to marry her. Marianna asks him if he is sure. Martin says that he is. He adds that everyone has seen how much she has grown as a person and how much they love each other. Martin then kisses her on the forehead.

Four days pass during which, Hernan notices Adrianna's change in mood. Whenever he tries to broach the topic, she insists that she is fine or changes the topic.

On Tuesday,

At Montes De Alba Inc.,

Gabriela is on her way into a lift when Antonio enters. They are going to the same place-Gabriela's office. Gabriela asks Antonio if they can have lunch together. Antonio says that he has a prior commitment. Gabriela tells him to reschedule. She adds that he's always busy during lunch with meetings or catching up with Aurelio, Adrianna, or Aranza. Antonio says that he can't. Gabriela frowns. She asks who he is meeting. She adds that if it's his grandmother, she can understand because Claudia is capable of coming to his office and dragging him out. Antonio smiles and says that his grandmother would do that. They arrive, on the floor, they are heading to and the lift opens.

The hallway is clear. Gabriela asks him who he is meeting. Antonio avoids answering the question. He then opens the door and they enter Gabriela's office. Antonio goes to the shelves. He picks a blue folder and says that he came for the documents; he had left the previous day. Gabriela says that's not a problem. She adds that she wants to know why he is being mysterious. Antonio tells her that she is being dramatic. Gabriela glares at him. Antonio shrugs and says that he is meeting Hernan. Gabriela is shocked. She asks him why he would meet her brother to discuss company affairs behind her back. Antonio smiles and moves near her.

Elsewhere,

In Hernan's office,

He is going through, some files in preparation for a meeting the next day. He abruptly stops and closes the document. He then wakes up from his chair and begins pacing around. He can't concentrate on the document. He thinks about how Adrianna has been acting over the past few days. There has been a difference in her. She has been a little sad. He asks himself if he did something to anger her or if she is going through something and she doesn't want to tell him. He also asks himself if she is happy with him and with the life that they are building together.

Back with Gabriela and Antonio,

Antonio tries to touch Gabriela, but she recoils and glares at him. She tells him to leave her alone. Antonio tells her to relax. He says that he loves her and he would never betray her. He adds that her brother wouldn't betray her either. Gabriela then asks him what he and her brother are going to talk about. Antonio says it's just things. Gabriela tells him that he is being evasive and suspicious. Antonio sighs and says that Hernan called him and wanted to talk to him. Gabriela asks what it was about. Antonio says that he wouldn't say much but said it wasn't about the company. Gabriela then says it must be something personal.

Antonio shrugs and says it must be. Gabriela smiles sweetly, much like Aranza would in a similar situation. She tells Antonio that they are going. He looks at her like she is crazy and asks her what she means by they are going. Gabriela says exactly that. She says that she wants to see what her brother wants. Antonio says that if Hernan wanted to talk to her, he would have called her instead. Gabriela frowns. She says that he might get annoyed but he will get over it. She adds that she is Hernan's twin and she knows him best. Antonio reluctantly agrees.

Later,

At lunchtime,

At the community center,

It is lunchtime and Marianna is about to head off for lunch, with her colleagues, when someone calls out her name. Marianna turns. It is one of their other colleagues. The lady walks upto them and greets everyone. She then tells Marianna that she has a visitor who wants to see her in the waiting room. Marianna asks who it is. The lady says that she doesn't know. Marianna says it's fine and begins heading towards the waiting room.

Back at Montes De Alba Inc.,

In Hernan's office,

Hernan is a little surprised when Antonio enters with Gabriela. Antonio tells Hernan that Gabriela insisted and she can be quite stubborn. Gabriela glares at Antonio, as they sit on the two adjacent chairs. Hernan says that he knows his sister very well and she is forceful and stubborn when she wants her way. Gabriela glares at her brother. She tells him that since he is the one who wanted to meet with Antonio, he should get to the point and tell them what's going on.

Hernan tells Gabriela that she is annoying and nosy. She frowns but ignores him. Hernan then turns and tells Antonio that he wanted to talk to him about Adrianna because he knows her best. Antonio gets worried and asks Hernan if Adrianna is fine. Hernan says that more or less she is fine. He adds that he has however noticed, that over the past few days, she has been a little different. He also adds that something is bothering her but she won't tell him about it.

Gabriela asks Antonio if Adrianna has talked to him. Antonio says that she hasn't. He adds that he has also noticed a difference. He adds that he asked her about it, but she would smile and say that she is fine. Antonio then remembers something. He then says that he might know what is bothering Adrianna. Hernan asks Antonio what he thinks is the problem. Antonio says that Adrianna is either jealous, annoyed, or both. Gabriela looks at Hernan.

EPISODE 177

 

Elsewhere,

At the community centre,

Marianna is strolling during her break time. She remembers, Aurelio's proposal to Aranza. It was sweet and Romantic. She then remembers Adrianna, Gabriela, and Anna Patricia as brides. She says to herself that as much as she would love to get married to Martin, after her past crimes it would be too awkward for his family to attend. She says that she wouldn't want to put Martin in a difficult or awkward position. She then runs a hand through her hair. She asks herself what excuse she will come up with once her sentence is done. She adds that it will be better for things to remain as they are.

Back at Montes De Alba Inc.,

Martin asks Aranza what plans she is thinking about. Aranza says that he should propose to Marianna. Martin knew Aranza says and does the craziest things, but he was still caught off-guard with that statement. He asks her what she is trying to get at with that. Aranza says that he and Marianna can get married together with Aurelio and her. Martin asks Aranza what about Marianna's sentence. Aranza says that it's not a problem. She adds that the wedding will be on a Saturday. Martin says that weddings take a lot of preparation. Aranza says that they do, and that's why she will hire someone to help.

She adds that numbers won't be crazy because they have the same group of family and friends. Martin asks her for how long she has had the idea. Aranza says that she has had it for around two days. Martin asks her what Aurelio thinks about it. Aranza admits she hasn't discussed it with him. Martin looks unsure. Aranza tells him to relax. She says that Aurelio is cool. Martin says while that is true, she still needs to talk about it with him. He adds that she also needs to consider how Hernan and Gabriela will feel about it. Aranza says that she will. She then smiles sweetly at Martin and he says he will propose.

Hours later,

Marianna is taking a walk in the garden at night. She hears her name and turns. It is Aranza. She stops and walks back towards her. Marianna greets Aranza and then asks her what's going on. Aranza tells Marianna that she wanted to ask her something. Marianna asks her what she did. Aranza says she is an angel. She then asks Marianna to help her choose a wedding dress and to be her maid of honour. Marianna is shocked. Aranza stands there looking at her expectantly. Marianna says she is surprised.

She then asks Aranza why she didn't ask her sister or cousin. Aranza shrugs. She then tells Marianna that as much as she loves Gabriela and Adrianna, she still thinks that her (Marianna) sense of style is fantastic. She adds that she realized that the day she (Marianna) rocked orange during Helena's sentencing. Marianna smiles. She tells Aranza that she is flattered. She then asks her how Adrianna and Gabriela will feel. Aranza says they will be okay.

She adds that they love her and what matters is that they all celebrate her wedding together. Aranza looks at Marianna sweetly and asks her to agree. Marianna reminds her that she has community service during the week. Aranza says that's no problem. She says that they can work out something. She then says that she can get someone on a Saturday. She then adds that they should bring Dianna along too. Marianna agrees. She adds that she knows her daughter will enjoy it too. Marianna then suggests that they can look through bridal magazines during the week. Aranza says that she loves the idea.

Two days later, on Friday,

Hernan and Adrianna walk into the cafeteria. Immediately they do, as always there is a change in the atmosphere because Hernan is the boss. Someone offers to direct them to a comfortable seating place. They are on their way when Adrianna sees Martin. She then indicates to Hernan to look at where his cousin is. Hernan tells their guide, that he would rather sit with his cousin instead. The guide nods and takes them to Martin's empty table. Martin looks up and greets them. The waiter takes Hernan and Adrianna's orders and then leaves. Martin looks at Hernan and says that he thought that Gabriela was the nosy twin.

Hernan smiles and says that she still is. Adrianna says that they were just concerned about him. Martin shrugs and says Aranza is crazy. Hernan says he can't deny that. He then asks what crazy plans his little sister has in mind. Martin says that she suggested he proposes to Marianna so that they get married on the same day as she and Aurelio. Hernan and Adrianna are both shocked. Martin says that however isn't all. He adds that she also asked Marianna to help her choose a wedding gown. Hernan says that's just typical Aranza. Adrianna asks if Marianna knows everything. Martin says that she doesn't. He adds that she only knows what Aranza told her, which is about the wedding dress.

He then pauses as Hernan and Adrianna's food is brought. After that, Martin continues and says that he wanted to talk to him (Hernan) and Gabriela first. Adrianna looks at Hernan. Hernan says what Marianna did in the past was very painful, but he already forgave her a long time ago. He adds that what matters most is that he (Martin) is happy. Martin asks Adrianna what about her. Adrianna says that she feels the same. She adds that his happiness comes before any past wounds. She adds that, if he does go through with the proposal, he can count on their support and presence at the wedding. Martin thanks them.

A week passes, during which, Martin talks to Gabriela and she too, says that she is okay with it and that she just wants him to be happy. Aranza mentions her idea to Aurelio and he says that he is okay with things.

The next Friday night,

In Martin and Marianna's quarters,

(It has two bedrooms, a toilet, bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and sitting room. It is detached from the main house.)

Marianna is in her and Martin's room alone. She is on the phone, with her cousin, Renata. They are talking about Marianna helping Aranza choose a wedding dress. Marianna is updating her on the progress. Renata then tells Marianna that she would make a beautiful and stylish bride. Marianna tells Renata that she is crazy.

Meanwhile, Martin who had stepped out is back. He goes and checks on the children. They are both sleeping. He then walks towards his and Marianna's room, when he hears her voice. He says that she must be on the phone. He is about to turn and go to the kitchen when he hears her say to someone that as she said earlier the idea is crazy. Martin stands quietly by the door. What is she talking about?

Back to Marianna and Renata's conversation,

Marianna tells Renata that she would never want to put Martin in an awkward position. She adds that it would be unfair to expect his family, especially the twins to come to the wedding, after what she did. Renata, says that it was years ago. She adds that Martin was going to propose at some point. Marianna sighs. She says that she knows. She adds that she is happy; Martin wants to wait until after her sentence is done.

She adds that she just dreads the day Martin proposes to her because she is afraid of causing him problems with his family. Renata tells Marianna that she understands her fears but she and Martin have been in a relationship for some time. She then adds that so far so good because his family has been forgiving and accepting. Renata then adds that Martin's family has thought of the idea of him proposing to her.

Shortly after,

At Hernan and Adrianna's house,

Adrianna is in the kitchen. She gets a glass and goes to the fridge. She pours some juice into the glass. She sips some juice. She then has flashbacks of herself and Aranza throughout the years. She remembers when Aranza was born when they would play together as children and them doing things together later on. She was the one who was there to take Aranza outside and notice her milestones. It was always either, Antonio, her, or the nanny checking Aranza's homework.

They have always been very close and they have always been there for each other. She then remembers Martin telling her and Hernan that Aranza asked Marianna to help her choose a wedding dress. Adrianna places the glass on the kitchen counter. She then asks herself why Aranza would choose Marianna to help her with something so important and personal instead of her. She adds that she would have understood if she chose Gabriela because she is her sister.

She also that Aranza's choice of Marianna is however hard to understand. Adrianna is busy lost in her thoughts; she doesn't notice Hernan enter the kitchen. He watches her for a few seconds and then looks at the juice. He then walks towards her and stops near her. She still hasn't noticed his presence. He taps her shoulder. She turns and, they look at each other. He asks her if she is fine. Adrianna says that she is. Hernan looks at her doubtfully. Adrianna smiles and assures him that she is.

Back with Martin,

Martin is walking through the garden. He recalls Renata and Marianna's conversation. He then remembers Aranza's suggestion about proposing to Marianna. He also remembers Marianna telling him about Aranza asking her to help her choose a wedding gown. Martin says that he has to talk to Marianna without mentioning Aranza's suggestion. He sighs and continues walking.

EPISODE 176

 

One month later,

As they have done, over the past month, Gabriela's family and friends, come to visit her daily. Everyone stands expectantly, as the doctor approaches. Gabriel asks how his daughter is. The doctor smiles and says that finally, she is awake. Everyone is happy and rejoices. The doctor adds that she is still weak and she won't be released from the hospital, any time soon.

Antonio asks how long that will be. The doctor says anything from a few days to several weeks. He then says that she requested to see her brother. Hernan walks upto the doctor. The doctor reminds Hernan that Gabriela is weak and he shouldn't stress her. He then adds that he shouldn't stay for long either. Hernan agrees. The doctor then tells Hernan to follow him.

A short while later,

Antonio is sitting in the cafeteria quietly. Someone asks if she can sit down. Antonio looks up at his grandmother and says that she can. He sips a glass of juice. Claudia sits and folds her hands. She then looks at Antonio in a serious tone. He asks her what's wrong. Claudia says that he is the one who should tell her. Antonio smiles. He says that she is the one giving him the looks she would give him when he was younger and he broke her flasks. Claudia shrugs. She says that he should be with the others and should be waiting to visit his wife and talk to her, now that she is finally awake.

Antonio shrugs. He says that he will go back. He says that he just stepped out a little. Claudia says that she passed by the waiting area before coming there. She adds that she heard that Hernan went to see Gabriela. Antonio frowns and sips some juice. Antonio asks Claudia how she knew where to find him. Claudia says that Aranza told her where he was. She then adds that she now knows what is bothering him. Antonio asks his grandmother what she means. Claudia tells him that he is jealous. Antonio frowns at his grandmother.

Elsewhere,

Hernan opens the door of Gabriela's room. He slowly enters. Hearing some noise, Gabriela turns her eyes towards the door. She smiles when she sees her brother. He walks towards her. She tries to sit upright, but Hernan tells her to relax and rest. Gabriela asks Hernan how the children are. Hernan says that they were both traumatized and shocked by everything that happened, but they will be okay. He adds that they have been seeing a children's counselor and psychologist, to help them with the trauma.

Gabriela asks him if they are still seeing the counselor. Hernan says that they still have sessions, twice a week. She then asks him how everyone else is. Hernan says they were all scared after what happened but now that she is getting better, they are all fine. Gabriela asks him how their father's health is. Hernan remains quiet. Gabriela asks him if their father is sick. Hernan tells her to relax and that they will talk later. Gabriela frowns at her brother. She tells him that if she wasn't sick she would wake up and pinch him. Hernan smiles. Gabriela tells him not to worry about her and just tell her how their father is.

Back to the cafeteria,

Antonio asks his grandmother why she thinks he is jealous. Claudia says that she knows him well enough to know that he is bothered that Gabriela wanted to see Hernan first. Antonio doesn't bother to deny the obvious. He tells his grandmother that he is Gabriela's husband and instead of her wanting to see him after waking up from a month-plus long coma, she asks to see her brother. Claudia says that as he said, Gabriela is his wife and it is him that she will go home to.

Antonio says that sometimes he gets jealous of how close Hernan and Gabriela are. Claudia tells him that Gabriela loves and respects him as her husband. She then adds that no matter how hard he tries, he will never be his wife's best friend, because her twin brother already has that position.

Antonio frowns and tells his grandmother that she is harsh. Claudia says that she sees no point in lying to him. She adds that Gabriela is a very loving person with a big heart.

She also reminds him that Gabriela gave her a second chance and even decided to name their daughter after her despite what she (Claudia) did to her in the past. Antonio smiles and agrees that Gabriela has a huge capacity for love. Claudia says that there is enough space in Gabriela's heart so he doesn't need to compete with his wife's brother and father for her love and attention. Antonio stands and hugs his grandmother. Claudia smiles.

Back to Gabriela's hospital room,

Gabriela tells Hernan not to keep things from her. She says that she can handle it. Hernan frowns but says okay. He says that their father got a little sick on the day of their rescue, and twice since, but otherwise he is fine. Gabriela then asks Hernan how he is. Hernan smiles. He says that it has been a difficult few weeks, but he is getting better. He says, now that she is awake, he is happier. Hernan kisses his sister's forehead. Gabriela asks what happened to Helena.

Hernan says that thankfully, she died in the explosion, which she had set up for them. He says that she was unconscious, and the medical team was going back for her when the building exploded. Gabriela asks him where she and the children were at the time. Hernan says that he and the children walked out as she was wheeled out. He then continues and says that one team of responders gave her first aid. He adds that another team took out a second stretcher to get Helena out, but the building exploded just before they could enter.

Gabriela sighs, she says that finally, Helena died, and they can now live in peace. Hernan agrees. Gabriela asks him how Aranza took the news of Helena's death. She adds that as evil as Helena was, she still gave birth to Aranza. Hernan says that their little sister took things pretty well and is okay. He adds that she didn't care. He also adds that everyone especially their father and Aurelio has been there to support her.

Gabriela is released, a month later. Another month passes during which, Gabriela continues her recovery slowly by slowly from home. Surrounded by the love of her friends and family, she recovers steadily. She is now ready to go back to work.

The first Saturday after she returns to work,

At the Montes De Alba mansion,

Gabriel decided to host a party to celebrate his daughter's life and her incredible recovery. The party has been going on well.

Gabriela is taking a walk with her father in a part of the garden. He says the past few months have been difficult for all of them but her being alive is the greatest blessing they can receive. He says that he was so scared especially when she was in a coma for one month. Gabriela smiles and puts an arm on her father's shoulder. After a few seconds she removes it then says that she is his daughter. She adds that she inherited the DNA of a survivor from him. She also says that just like him, she is brave and a survivor. Gabriel hugs his daughter. 

Elsewhere,

Hernan runs into Aranza as they are both walking around the house. He asks her if she is fine. Aranza says that she is. She asks him if sometimes he feels jealous. Hernan asks her what she means. Aranza says that she was curious to know if he ever got jealous of Gabriela. She adds that even though they have a little sister (Ramona) and there is also Ricardo, Gabriela is still clearly their father's favourite. Aranza then says that maybe it was because Gabriela was named after him. 

Hernan shrugs. He says he does sometimes. He then adds that given that Gabriela has been kidnapped and shot, on two different occasions and is still alive, her life is a miracle. He adds that their father treasures every moment their sister, is alive and occasionally it might come out as favouritism. Aranza agrees that Gabriela's life is a miracle.

Sometime later,

Gabriel calls for everyone's attention. He then asks Gabriela to come in front. She smiles as she does. Gabriel then proceeds to give a toast and then thanks everyone for coming. To everyone's surprise, he asks Aurelio and Aranza to come up to the stage. No one is more surprised than Aranza herself. What is going on? Once they are both on stage, Gabriel tells Aranza to stand a little distance away.

She looks like she has questions but she does as her father says. Gabriel and Gabriela move a few steps back. Aurelio moves closer to Aranza. He then gets down on one knee. Aranza places both of her hands on her face. It was finally time. The moment she had been waiting for, for years. Martin who is near Marianna watches the reaction on her face. He says to himself that as soon as she finishes her community service sentence, they will get married.

Days later, on Wednesday,

Martin is waiting in the cafeteria. He is scrolling through his phone when Aranza arrives. She asks him if he has been waiting for long. Martin says that he hasn't. He adds that, when she said she wanted to talk to him alone, he was curious to find out what mischief she was upto. Aranza frowns at him. She says that she is nice and mature. Martin says that it is debatable. Aranza pinches him. She asks him if he and Marianna had ever discussed marriage. Martin stares at Aranza shocked. She shrugs and then sweetly asks him, well. Martin asks her why she wants to know. Aranza says that she is not being nosy.

She adds that she is going somewhere with the question. Martin looks at her suspiciously. Aranza smiles sweetly. Martin asks her if her sister told her to question him. Aranza says that Gabriela has nothing to do with her talking to him. Martin seems to think about it for a few seconds. He then says that they haven't talked about it much. He says that the last time they had such a conversation, was the previous year, when Renata, her cousin got married. Aranza says that she is a little surprised. She asks Martin what their plans are. Martin says that the general agreement between him and Marianna is to wait until her sentence is complete. Aranza taps her finger on the table like she is deep in thought.

Elsewhere,

At Hernan and Adrianna's house,

Aranza is in the kitchen with her father. Gabriel starts to clutch his chest and he seems short of breath. Aranza quickly moves to his side. She asks him if he is fine. Gabriel starts to wave her away. He is trying to assure her that he is fine. Just then Martin and Aurelio enter the kitchen. When they see what's happening, they rush to Gabriel's side. Gabriel manages to frown and tells Aranza, Martin, and Aurelio that they are all overreacting. Martin tells Aranza and Aurelio that they should take him (Gabriel) to the sitting room. Gabriel says that he is just a little tired but agrees to go to the sitting room.

Back to the abandoned house,

Gisela tells Hernan that the room is locked. Hernan sighs. Just then, a scream catches the attention of both Hernan and Gisela. It is Hannibal. He is a few feet from Gabriela who is moving in and out of consciousness. Helena has managed to stand up, even though she is weak and bleeding. She is holding onto Hannibal. Her face full of hate, she looks at Hernan and while stammering, tells him that as she said, he, his sister, and the children will never be happy. She adds that she will make sure of that even if it's the last thing she does.

Still stammering she tells him that the place is rigged with explosives. Hernan is shocked and afraid. Hannibal struggles to move away from Helena. She is weak and doesn't have the energy to hold onto him for long. Hannibal turns and bites her arm. Helena winces in pain and Hannibal runs to Hernan. Helena tries to go near Gabriela, and Hernan sees that. He shoots her twice again before she gets to his sister. He then runs to Gabriela. Hernan tells the children to search Helena and look for a phone, so they can get help. The children quickly begin doing that.

Sometime later,

At the hospital,

Anna Patricia is with, Aranza, Aurelio, and Antonio waiting for updates on Gabriel's health. After what seems like forever, the doctor comes to speak to them. Aranza asks how her father is. The doctor says that he is fine. He adds that his blood pressure rose, probably because he is worried about the safety of his children and grandchildren. The doctor continues and says that it is, however, better that they keep him for at least two days just so they can run more tests and monitor his health. Anna Patricia says that's fine.

Elsewhere,

Martin is walking through the hospital hallways when his phone rings. He removes it. The phone number is not familiar. He ignores it and continues walking. The caller, however, calls again. Martin says that the person is insistent. He looks at the phone again. He sighs and answers by saying hello. He is shocked to hear Hernan's panicked voice replying hello. Before Martin can say anything, Hernan tells him that they need help. He adds that Helena tried to shoot Gisela but Gabriela took the bullets instead. He also adds that they are doing all they can but Gabriela is losing blood and needs treatment quickly. He adds that they are in some kind of a large open room.

Martin asks Hernan if he knows where they were. Hernan tells him the name of the place he and Gabriela left his car. He then says that after that, they were brought, blindfolded, and tied up to where they are locked up by Helena's henchmen. He then adds that according to Helena's henchmen and Helena herself, the place is rigged with some kind of timed explosives. Martin runs a hand through his hair. He tells Hernan to do all he can to keep Gabriela alive. He says that he is going to inform the police so that they can send a nearby team of officers and medics. Hernan says it's fine.

A short while later,

Hernan and the children are near Gabriela. He tells the children, to find anything they can use to break the door. He adds that they also need to find anything they can use to keep Gabriela's wound from bleeding or getting infected. However much they try, they find no way of breaking the door. Hannibal, however, finds some bottled water. Hernan removes his t-shirt and they do all they can, to stabilize Gabriela, with what they have (cloth and water).

Less than two hours later, there is hope. They hear voices. At first, they panic, thinking that Helena's cronies have come back to kill them. Hernan picks up one gun. He gives another to Hannibal and tells them that they need to be ready in case Helena's criminals have come back. He then tells Hannibal to stay behind him. Hannibal nods and follows his uncle's cue. Hernan without looking back, tells Gisela to take care of her aunt. After a few minutes, the door is broken down.

Meanwhile,

Back in the hospital,

Anna Patricia is in Gabriel's room. He asks her if there is any news about his children and grandchildren. Anna Patricia remains silent. Gabriel looks at her suspiciously. He asks her to tell him of any developments in the search for the children. Just then there is a knock on the door and the doctor enters. He asks Gabriel how he feels. Gabriel says that he feels fine except for a mild headache. He then asks the doctor if the test results revealed anything. The doctor says that the test results were negative. He then tells Gabriel that he can leave the next day.

Gabriel frowns. He asks the doctor why he can't leave immediately if he is well. The doctor looks at Anna Patricia then at Gabriel. He then tells Gabriel that he needs to be monitored. Gabriel says that he doesn't need to be monitored. He says that he needs news on his children and grandchildren. Anna Patricia looks at the doctor nervously. Gabriel tells the doctor that for the time being, if he could at least allow his (Gabriel's) wife to update him on what happened to his children and grandchildren. The doctor tells Gabriel that what he needs to do is to relax and rest.

Gabriel asks the doctor if he has children. The doctor says that he has two sons and a daughter. Gabriel asks him if he would be calm and relaxed if his children were in danger. The doctor says that he would be worried and he would do everything he could until they were safe. Gabriel says that he too wants to know how his children are. The doctor relents. He looks at Anna Patricia and tells her that she can tell Gabriel the truth. He adds that she can call for a nurse, in case of anything. Anna Patricia thanks him and says that she will.

Back at the hideout,

Hernan stares at the police cautiously. One of the officers tells them that they are the police and that they are not with Helena. Hernan releases a deep breath. He then tells Hannibal to drop his gun and go to his mother and cousin. Hannibal does as he is told. Hernan looks at the police once more, then drops his gun. He tells them to hurry with the medical team because his sister is injured. The police team rushes to where Gabriela and the children are. One of them checks Gabriela's pulse and the other checks Helena's pulse. Just then people come in with a stretcher.

It is a medical team from the nearby hospital. The officer checking Gabriela's pulse says that her pulse is weak but it is still there. The one checking Helena's pulse says that she too has a weak pulse. Hernan says that both Helena and the escaped gunmen mentioned that there were bombs and explosives, so they should get out as soon as they can just in case it is true. One of the medical team members says that they will take Gabriela out first and then come with an extra stretcher to get Helena. The officer, who was in charge of the operation, says that it's time to go.

Back in the hospital room,

Anna Patricia tells Gabriel that Hernan managed to call Martin which made it easier for the police to find where the twins and the children were. Gabriel asks her if Hernan told Martin anything else. Anna Patricia says that it seems that Helena took the twins and the children to some kind of an open room. She adds that Helena tried to shoot Gisela but Gabriela took both the bullets meant for her niece. Gabriel asks if Hernan and the children are fine. He adds that as far as they know they are. He adds that they tried calling the number again but they couldn't get through. She says that maybe it ran out of charge. Gabriel sighs. He silently prays to God to protect his daughter.

A little while later,

Back at the hideout,

Hernan, Gabriela, and the children are out of the building. Hannibal starts to cry and asks Hernan if his mother will be fine. Hernan hugs his nephew and tells him that God will be there to protect her and take care of her. Hernan hugs both children. They then turn and look at Gabriela who is receiving first aid. Once that begins, two emergency medical technicians remove a stretcher from the ambulance and start to go back for Helena. Before they get into the building it explodes. The two EMTs are hit with flying debris on the face.

The next day (on Sunday),

The previous night had been a tense night as Gabriela's health was monitored. The whole family was there, anxiously waiting for news about her. Just then, Gabriel comes in. Everyone is a little surprised. Aranza reminds her father that he was supposed to be in his hospital room. Gabriel frowns. He says that even the doctors' admitted that he was fine. He says that the worry of not knowing about Gabriela's health, is worse for his health, than being released from the hospital a few hours early.

Antonio stands and tells Gabriel to sit down. Gabriel sits down. Shortly after, the doctor comes out. Antonio asks how his wife is. The doctor says that Gabriela went into a coma after the emergency surgery that she underwent overnight and her pulse was still weak. He adds that there has been very little improvement in the morning. Claudia puts an arm on his shoulder. Everyone is scared and devastated. The doctor excuses himself. Claudia tells Antonio to follow her to the hospital chapel. Quietly, he does.

One week passes, during which Gabriela slowly recovers from her injuries, however, she remains in a coma. She receives a restricted number of visitors including, Antonio, Hernan, her father, and Aranza. 

Also during this time, the police investigators ask Gabriel what should be done to Helena's remains. He asks for a few days to think about it. Hernan asks his father what should be done. He says that he has no idea and that Aranza is his first priority. He adds that as evil as Helena was, she was still Aranza's mother. Gabriel also adds that the issue needs to be handled with sensitivity because of Aranza. He says that there is one person he will ask and do whatever she says. Hernan says grandma (Clara). Gabriel says yes he will ask her but that he has talk to Aranza first as well. Meanwhile, Hannibal and Gisela begin seeing a pediatric counselor to help them deal with the severe trauma they experienced during their ordeal.

Gabriel meets with Aranza and Clara. Aranza is still pretty shaken with the realization of just how vile and ruthless her mother was. Aranza says that she is fine with whatever grandma Clara decides should be done. Clara suggests that Helena should be buried in a public cemetery as soon as the body is released to them. Aranza and Gabriel both agree.

Another week passes during which Helena's remains are released and quickly buried in a ceremony attended by many of their family and friends. Antonio who stayed with Gabriela in the hospital and his grandmother who stayed to assist him, and Anna Patricia, Luisa and Marianna who stayed with all the kids at the Montes De Alba mansion, were the only ones who didn't go. Hannibal and Gisela Paulina were still too traumatised from what Helena put them through, as it had only been less that a month, since they had been rescued from their traumatic kidnapping and it was decided that they shouldn't be at their kidnappers funeral, even if she was their grandmother. Ricardo and Dianna wanted to remain with their friends. 

The funeral was a solemn matter of fact affair. There was no tears or sadness. They all came to show Aranza that they were with her and they loved her. No emotion was shown, not even from Gabriel or Aranza. It was more like a sigh of relief. Everyone attended to close a painful chapter of suffering and pain. They wanted to move on with the future, a future they hoped would be brighter and full of love. 

EPISODE 174

 

It is a Thursday,

Gabriel goes to the station with Antonio, Aurelio, and Martin to check for updates. The officer leading the search places some photos on the table. Gabriel, Aurelio, Martin, and Antonio stand around it, looking at the photos. The officer explains that those are still images of Hernan's car taken, from the CCTV footage of a convenience store in the next town. He then shows them a picture of a young woman leaving the store. He says that he will need the family's confirmation that it is Gabriela. The lady is dressed in a trendy tracksuit and a hoodie.

Gabriel tells Antonio to do the confirmation. Antonio asks the officer if he can pick the picture for closer inspection. The officer agrees. Antonio picks up the picture. There is no doubt it is Gabriela. He says that he is sure that it is Gabriela. He adds that anyone who knows her well would be able to see past the disguise. The officer says that the car had been found. Martin asks where it was. The officer says it was found not too far from where Hernan and Gabriela were abandoned as children. He adds that they were lured by Helena or one of her people into the jungle.

The officer adds that no clear physical evidence has been found so far in the car that would help the investigation or the search. He also adds that the car is, however, being checked by forensic experts. Antonio asks whether the phones have revealed any information. The officer says that in the days leading upto the twins going to rescue the children, Hernan received a call from a number they strongly believe is Helena. He then adds that Gabriela received a threatening image of the children, tied up with gunmen behind them.

Gabriel clutches his chest and takes a deep sigh. Aurelio, who was nearest to him, asks him if he is fine. Gabriel waves him away and says that he is fine. Martin asks the officer what next. The officer says that given that they don't know the exact location of the twins and their children and also how dangerous and vengeful Helena is, they have to proceed with extreme caution.

Another week passes during which, the search progresses. The search team continues narrowing down on the exact location of the twins and their children. Meanwhile, Helena continues psychologically torturing the twins and the children.

On a Saturday,

Hernan, Gabriela, Hannibal, and Gisela are standing in a large space in the middle of the abandoned building. Helena had directed that they be brought there. Gabriela is holding Gisela while Hernan is holding Hannibal. However, none of them has been tied up. Helena enters the large space as well. Hernan and Gabriela are filled with fear. Helena is carrying two guns instead of one. She looks at all four of them with contempt. Gabriela asks herself what the crazy witch was upto.

Helena tells Hannibal and Gisela to enjoy the little time they have with their parents because soon she will kill them (Hernan and Gabriela). All four of them are afraid. They stare at Helena with complete fear and shock. Helena smirks and says that is exactly how she wants to see them before she kills them. Hannibal starts crying. Gabriela looks at her brother and her son. She wipes the tears that are threatening to fall, from her eyes. Gisela starts to cry as well. Gabriela holds her niece closer and kisses her forehead.

Meanwhile,

The police search team is getting deeper into the jungle, where Hernan and Gabriela are. It has been a long and agonizing search.

Sometime later,

Helena is still with the twins and the children in the large room. She shoots in the air and the children scream in fear. Gabriela holds Gisela more closely and Hernan holds Hannibal more closely. However, before Helena can say anything else, the handset, she was carrying rings. She regularly changed them to minimize the risk of detection. She begins to talk to the other person. She frowns and her face has worry lines. Hernan and Gabriela look at each other with fear. 

What could be wrong? Helena hangs up. She then glares at the twins. She holds on tight to the guns. She then sarcastically says that as much as she would love to have them there together for longer, their time together must come to an end. Both Hernan and Gabriela are too afraid to ask what that means for them and the children. Helena looks at the four of them with disgust. She then calls out Gisela Paulina. Gisela turns and buries her face into Gabriela. 

Gabriela holds her tightly. Helena calls out Gisela again. Gisela begins crying. Helena quickly moves to Gabriela and Gisela's side. She then grabs Gisela and drags her. Hernan, Hannibal, and Gabriela watch the scene with utter horror. Hernan releases one hand from holding Hannibal and wipes tears from his face. Gabriela looks at her brother. She knows how much he loves his daughter. Helena looks at Gisela with pure spite. She then says that it seems as if the police are looking for them and are on their way. 

Despite the situation, Gisela smiles. She asks whether that means that she can go and see her mommy and her friend, Dianna. Helena looks at Gabriela, Hernan, and Hannibal then at Gisela again. She says that none of them is going anywhere. She adds that she must complete what she set out to do many years ago. She also adds that she will never allow them to be happy either. Abruptly, Helena releases Gisela. 

She then drags her and takes her a few steps away. She then steps back a bit. Helena turns and glares at Gabriela, Hannibal, and Hernan. 

She says that she will get her revenge. She then holds up her gun and aims at Gisela. By this time, Hernan, Gabriela, and Hannibal are in near panic mode. Gabriela looks at Hernan holding on tightly to Hannibal. She takes a deep breath then looks at Helena again. Helena's finger is still dangerously near the trigger. Gabriela says that she cannot let Helena harm the children.

Meanwhile,

Antonio is in his room. He is sitting facing Gabriela's dressing table. He takes a deep breath. He then runs a hand through his hair. The door opens and Claudia comes in. He smiles at her. She is as pretty and feisty as her mother. She runs to him and he carries her. She then looks at him and starts crying. He kisses her forehead. He asks her what's wrong. She says that she misses her mommy. Antonio says that he does too. Claudia asks him when she is coming back. She adds that she also misses Hannibal even though sometimes he is not nice to her. Antonio smiles then runs a hand through his hair. He tells Claudia that her mother and brother are coming back soon, and then hugs her again.

A short while later,

The tense standoff at the hideout continues, as Helena is still pointing a gun at Gisela Paulina. Hernan, Gabriela, and Hannibal are on edge. Helena glares at Gisela one more time and re-positions herself to take a better shot. She says that none of the four of them will survive and things end there. She then begins pulling the trigger. Before anyone can react, Gabriela runs to where Gisela is and the bullet hits her instead. Gabriela falls down and blocks Gisela. Hannibal begins crying, calling out mommy, mommy. Hernan calls out to Gabriela as well.

Helena curses and in anger shoots at Gabriela again. In the heat of the moment, Helena drops one gun. She then walks over to Gabriela and Gisela. She yells at Gisela to move aside. After that, she begins inspecting Gabriela to see if she is dead. Hernan releases Hannibal and tells him to be quiet. Helena says out loud that unfortunately, she (Gabriela) is still alive. Meanwhile, Hernan quietly walks over and picks up Helena's gun. The slight noise startles her. Hernan quickly positions himself with the gun. Helena begins to threaten Hernan.

She moves away from Gabriela and tells Hernan that if he tries anything foolish, she will kill the children. Helena adds that she will kill him first and then kill the children. Before she can continue with the threats, Hernan sprays her with bullets. The children start crying again. Helena falls. Hernan slowly walks over to her, still pointing a gun at her. There is no movement. When he reaches Helena, he quickly grabs her gun. He then walks over to Gisela. Once Hernan is near his daughter (and from where he can see the door), he tells Hannibal to stand behind him. Hannibal quickly runs behind his uncle.

Meanwhile, the police search team is not too far, from the exact location where the twins and their children are. They have been searching around.

Back at the place,

Hannibal is crying. He looks at Hernan and asks him if his mother will die. Hernan places a hand on his nephew's shoulder and tells him to have faith. He adds that God has taken care of them so far and he will protect his (Hannibal's) mother. Just then, the door is opened and Helena's henchmen come in. The scared and traumatized children hide behind Hernan. The henchmen look from Hernan and the children to Gabriela to Helena. Hernan, with courage he doesn't have, tells the henchmen that the police officers who are looking for them (the twins and the children) are snooping around the area.

One of the henchmen asks Hernan how he knows. Hernan says that Helena was on the phone with someone before the shootout. The henchmen begin whispering among themselves. Hernan tells them that the longer they stay, the more they risk arrest. They stop chatting and look at each other. One of them, the leader, says that none of them will leave there alive. He then looks at his accomplices and tells them to follow him. The accomplices stand and follow their leader. Hernan looks at Gisela and asks her to go and see if the door is locked. She seems afraid, so he comforts her.
